Anyone have experiences with the recent batch of Samsung 226BW or 206BW?

I am tempted to buy two to replace my two CRT 17" monitors that while still are good, my eyes do appreciate the less harsh nature of the LCD display.

And also how good is Samsung in producing dead pixels?

As far as i'm aware they have a 0 dead pixel warranty (at least, here in Aus).

Mate has the 205BW and loves it, no dead pixels. GF has a 17" 740N, again no dead pixels, and she loves it.

I'm extremely tempted by the 226BW myself 😱

I think the 'S' is a better panel.

If you can read French... There is an exhaustive comparo of the 226BW "S" vs "A" on LesNumeriques. See the series of links at top right of this page, in the News section:

Bottom line: The A and S panel are identical. Reviewers think the A monitor doesn't use an AUOptronics panel, but a Samsung panel made under contract (with some Samsung components) by AUOptronics and maybe Chimei.

The only significant difference they have noted is that default colora are well calibrated for the S panel and completely off (blue) with the A panel. See here:

They say that if you calibrate color on the A monitor, it is as good as the S monitor.

I just got a 226bw w/ that acer deal at circuit city and it's a C panel. Not sure if thats good or bad, but the monitor is awesome. 0 dead pixels

Now they're putting C (I'm guessing Chi Mei or Chunghwa) in there? :\

You can be sure you're getting good quality by grabbing a LG L226WT (was same price or lower than the 226BW when I got it from Circuit City).

I love my Samsung 206BW, best monitor I ever bought.

I STILL havent pullled the trigger because of the whole "stay away from TN monitors" and the arguments surrounding it.

So how are the samsung 226BW?

Its either the Samsung 971p or the 226BW, where in New Zealand, the 971p is 70 NZD cheaper. ($580 vs $650). I was considering the 215TW, and monitors around there, but far too expensive (>900NZD)

OT: does monitors that use dual DVI run on single DVI? (im assuming this limits the max resolution)

Samsung did say in a different forum there is no real difference between A and S version, I have read some difference in backlight bleed but that's probably down to quality control etc..also no LCD I have seen has perfect colour calibration out of the box,having a good monitor colour calibration software helps towards getting the best out of your LCD/CRT.
