Anyone have experience with a 37" Westy or Sceptre?

I want to get a 3007wfp, and they are on sale currently for under 1500. I am pretty sure that I want to wait for the g80 cards to come out to drive this monitor though. Would it be safe to wait for the new cards to come out to buy the monitor or should I jump on the 1500 price and just torture myself with a monitor I cannot use for a month?

Edit
As pointed out in this thread, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a...9234001&ATT=89-234-001&CMP=OTC-Froogle

This looks like a great monitor, but I wanted to know if anyone has had one and what you all thought. I use my computer mostly for gaming.

If you do not have a rig to drive it then WAIT.
Otherwise it doesn't make any sense of buying it then let it collect dust for at least a month or two or even three because who knows when exactly the dx-10 cards to be released?
FYI: I can get the same 3007 for $1349 + tax, free shipping from dell today (last day, in fact) with coupon, of course but I've not yet decided...

eh, check out a 37" Sceptre or Westy for a couple hundred less.

1920x1080
about the same amount of pixels as 1600x1200, so not as much of a system hog.

I got one and immediately gave my mom my 19" when I saw the hookup. No reason why you can't neuter the display on the 30". You're forced to native rez, of course, but you could save some money unless you have another use for a 37" monitor. Games aren't the fastest on my 3.0c x850pro system, but the size makes up for the lack of eye candy.

Another note, you're not going to get the advanced tech you would with a smaller monitor. Black levels won't be as black, any motion/judder will be more evident, source problems will multiply. You really need to seek perfection on these guys in how you display or else it'll look big and marginal, which is why SDTV doesn't look so good (unless you want to filter and upconvert it).

So for the guys who have this monitor it sounds like you love it for games. Any recommendations for how to set it up, and what graphics cards are you using to drive this beast?

Mine is wall mounted.

Not much set up, plug in the DVI cable and go!

Currently I'm using a 7950GX2 to power the beast.
(Soon to be upgraded to a G80)

I had a 37" Westy, but replaced it with a 42" when the 37 conked out. I love the 42 to death; and greatly enjoyed the 37" while I had it as well. Definitely the best bang for the buck!
