Anyone have call tracking

A number listed on callerid as 3474180491 called me. It sounded like a telemarketer, when I asked him to identify himself he only gave a first name, I pointed out his first name is useless, he then made crude sexual comments and hung up. A google doesn't show any useful information other than a couple services that claim they'll provide info for $5-$10.

Does anyone have info on identifying a company name behind this? I do know the numbers can be 'spoofed' unfortunately, leaving no useful info.

I pursued another problem call with the phone company and after reaching their 'investigators' after quite a while, all they could do is get the same spoof number.

This reminds me of something I wanted to post for awhile.. If there an app where you can get rings of known numbers and rejects all unknowns? I have EVO smart phone.

Don't they have bouncers for cell phones yet?

A bouncer is a device or software that answers all inbound calls and provides the callers with a prompt asking for a code. If the caller does not provide the code the line is disconnected. If the proper code is provided the call gets routed through and rings on your device. This way only the people YOU give the code to can reach you.

With OOMA VOIP which is $3.50/month you can pay $10/month more for additional features including a community-maintained black list. I assume it would work well to fight this kind of crap. I've been with OOMA for a while but just the cheap option.

If you give me the time the call was made and your phone number I can hack the national telephone call database and find the information you desire.

When I worked there I left a backdoor that enables me to access it at anytime, I just have to cover my tracks. For a fee I can track the call to about a 100 feet diameter.

On our business land line the past week there have been several strange calls that identify themselves as "HELLO THERE" or "HELLO PEOPLE" on the caller id. Don't know, never bothered answering them.

Oh, we have a pbx system based around Asterisk, with voip outgoing calling, the caller id and even the phone number are soooooo easy to fake, don't even bother going after the actual number.


This guy could just be using a software that hooks into a voip system, possibly through a hacked account, or hacked pbx system. It happens. And you're not going to trace it back to anyone.
