Anyone have any wrist/finger injuries from using the computer too much?

Anyone have any injuries?

I'm feeling this weirdness in my left hand thumb right now... It's going away. But damn, I sure spend a lot of time at my computer typing away at nonsense, and neffing.

<< Yup, can't remember the game I was playing though, Half-Life, CS, or something like that. >>

huh? stop neffing man!

I acually have a chronic pain in the first joint of my middle finger, which I assume is from working the scroll wheel as much as I do. Now don't you have a paper you should be working on? 🙂

Yeah...my wrist is awful...and my right index finger *always* hurts 🙁

ATOT is like the tobacco industry in that sense...Riiiiiiiiiight...I believe you when you say it's not addictive....

Yeah, but I've put it off to nef, and talk on AIM.

Going back to the paper now..........

actually, RSI's (repetitive stress injuries) can be very serious. I had a professor last year who wears hand braces on both hands from typing so much... and he uses overhead projectors and markers instead of a chalkboard because of the repetitive motions on his shoulders... I even had to get acupuncture for my right hand (played too much Quake, seriously) and it still isn't back at 100%. It got so bad this past summer that I had to drop my compiler class that I was taking UCI. So it's not a laughing matter. When people first think of an injury from using the computer they automatically assume carpal tunnel, which in many cases is not true.

I think so. I just got wrist braces from my doc yesterday. My hands get very cold and sometimes get numb. I'll hurt from my elbow to my wrist and sometimes wake up and my arms will be numb. Fun, eh? 😉

Sorry to hear that. Just out of curiousity, do you use a split-keyboard (Microsoft Natural-style)? I'm wondering how much of a help those are for RSIs. I've got one at home and I really like it but I don't spend all day typing so I can't really compare accurately.

with both of my hands, when I am working in the woodshop at school or just doing anything where I have to grip something alot it feels like I cant open my hand when I try to let go of that object, when my hand finnaly decides to open it goes numb for a few secs. I dont like it

My right wrist usually is a little sore each night before bed

I use a Natural Pro and would rather give up my soul then get an old fashioned keyboard

This Swimsuit issue isn't helping much either 😉
