my cpu is running 62-65 idle & the case is at 47...i dont know if the heating from my house has anything to do with it but we have 5 fans running in the case...the cpu fan is the one that came with the cpu...these are my specs

amd athlon xp 2500+
1gb (2x512) geil value series w/heatspreaders
abit nf7-s
120gb hd
160gb hd

we've had the cpu for about 2 years now, same goes for the mobo...anyone have any personal experiences with evercool?

here are a couple of reviews that i was able to get off google

or would a couple of new fans with higher cfm's cool my system better?

The 80mm Evercools that came with my case had some kind of on/off whirring sound @ low voltage so I replaced them with Panaflos.

Been satisfied since.

assuming that your temp readings are correct, I think you have a problem with airflow from the case. The first thing I would focus on is getting the system (case) temps down. I run a similar setup (Shuttle AN35u, XP2500) and my case temps temps run around 32 to 33C assuming the ambient in the room is around 75C. The CPU at idle typically runs at around 8 to 10 C higher than the system temp but I do use a pretty good heatsink/fan with AS5 thermal compound. If my case temps were as high as yours, I would expect to see CPU temps about 8 to 10C higher or about 55 to 57C. I run my case with one fan (intake on front) and the power supply fan. Also, my CPU is overclocked to about Xp3400 speeds.

What case are you using and what orientation of the fans are you using. I generally recommend that the front fans take air in and the rear ones exhaust. Make sure you have the fans oriented in this fashion. I suspect that you have the fan orientation wrong or the temps your reading are in error.

I wouldn't spend a dime on additional cooling fans until I figured out what was wrong. Do a quick test by touching the edge of the heatsink on the cpu after the system has stabilized in temps. If it feel pretty darn hot, the temps your getting are probably correct. If it only feels slightly warm, the temp readings you have are in error.
