Anyone have any experience with Ryobi hammer drills?

I'm thinking of getting a RYOBI 6336 1/2? hammer drill. Has anyone used this model or any Ryobi equipment. My other choice is the Hitachi FDV16VB 5/8" hammer drill. This is for home use only, so I don't need to spend $100+.

I don't know about Ryobi power tools, but I do know that they make decent fishing reels.

I have a ryobi cordless drill and it works great. I also have a table saw from them that works well too. Most of the other equipment I've used was Porter Cable (nice) and DeWalt (also nice).

Dunno about Ryobi, but I used the Ridgid hammer drill during my week-long marketing gig with Home Depot/Ridgid, and man can that thing punch though a cinder block.

Ryobi makes the Ridgid cordless tools. If you buy the Ridgid cordless stuff before December 31st, it's warranted for life, including the batteries!

IF you get that Hitatchi promise me you'll hand it to me right after you purchase it so I CAN WHACK YOU WITH IT! Hitachi has been HORRIBLE in my experience....


Ryobi is nice....my dad has a massive circular saw that has proved very durable/reliable...

I own 2 Ryobi cordless drills. One is an OLDDDDDDDD 7.2V, and one is a brand new 14.4V. I haven't had a problem with either one, and I would recommend them any day.

I was shying away from the Toshiba because of some bad reviews I found. Couldn't find any reviews for the Ryobi though.

Just found this out, and thought I'd pass it along. Milwaukee had a Lifetime warrantee on their tools up till this year, when they decided to make it a 5 year warranty, which still happens to be the best in the business. Today I found out that the cutoff is from the date of manufacture, so if you buy a set that was manufactured before October 1st, 2003, it will still have the lifetime warranty:

• Here is the information on how to read the serial number for date of manufacture: The Five [5] year MILWAUKEE Warranty is effective on all products manufactured as of October 1, 2003. Date code of a product's serial number are the 6,7,8 & 9th digits. A serial number date code of XXXAX0339XXXX (0339 = 1st week of October, 2003) or later, showing that the product was produced after October 1, 2003 [0340, 0341, 0342, et cetera] is covered by the Five [5] year TOOL LIMITED WARRANTY.

Might make somebody pretty happy to have a lifetime warranted tool under the Christmas tree, instead of a measly 5 year unit.

Don't forget, December 31st is the last date to get the Lifetime warranty on the Ridgid cordless tools, which unbelievably includes the $90.00 batteries!

I have a ryobi drill (cant remember exact voltage, under 10,got it free ) and my uncle has an 18v one. They both work great.

  As for Ryobi and Ridgid being made by the same company, i can assure you they are made on two entirely different lines and share nothing other than the parent company.

The parts for those tools may or may not be interchangable. I don't know.
