Anyone have any experience with KDS Laptops? Anyone know how to cheaply increase run time on batteries?

I'm thinking about buying the KDS lappy here: http://www.computers4sure.com/product.asp?ProductID=112136&CatID=28

800 Mhz PIII, 20 GB HDD, 14.1 in XGA TFT, 8x DVD, 128 MB RAM, etc. etc. all for just $1150...

This price seems really fishy, since it's lower than every other laptop by $200.

Is this really a mobile processor, or did KDS just take a really hot and power hungry desktop processor and stuck it in a notebook?

I am using their monitor right now (19', uses a trinitron tube, flat, love it 🙂 ) but am kind of wavering on a $1150 purchase...

Another thing - if this is a desktop processor, i don't think the laptop will have the claimed 2.5 hour battery life. Extra Li batteries are WAY too expensive, so I am wondering if there's a cheap way to make your own battery outside (like getting say a car battery and modifying it) to extend the battery life substantially...

any1?

thanks

car battery, what a hoot.

my ratio my be a bit off, but I thnk this is how it goes

NiMH batteries provide the same capacity as lead-acid at 1/3 the size
LiIon batteries provide the same capacity at NiMH at 1/4 the size

moral of the story, why spend $75 on a cart to tote around your car battery when you could just go out and buy the LiION

if it dosent have Speedstep or whatever intel calls there powersaveing feature then it must be the desktop version.
