Anyone have any experience with Crucial RMAs?

Here's the situation: I have a 512MB stick of PC2100 ECC REG memory I bought from Crucial sometime last year, and now it's dead. Instead of just throwing it in the garbage and paying ~$105 for a new one, I want to try returning it for an exchange.

I've looked over Crucial's site, but there are 2 things I'm not sure of:

1. Seeing as this RAM has been in service since the middle of 2002, and only died last week, will they still accept an RMA?

2. They say that the RAM must be shipped to them in the original box and antistatic bag. I've got boxes and bags from other memory I've bought from them, but not the ones I got this stick in. Will they accept this?

Thanks for any advice!

I just did an RMA and everything turned out great. To answer your questions:

1) Lifetime warranty....you're covered.

2) I shipped in a regular anti-static bag in a regular box.

From the time I shipped until the time I got my replacement back was about 5-6 working days. Hope this helps...

Alright, I fired off an e-mail yesterday morning. About how long does it usually take them to reply?

Edit: Got reply and RMA#. Took roughly 1 day to hear from them after sending e-mail.

I always call them on the phone and set up the RMA that way. You can choose to cross-ship if you give them a CC#, otherwise you send the RAM to them and they send your replacement back after they receive your package. They ship the RAM to you via Fedex 2nd Day Air.

They probably don't want people to know the actual chips they use on their RAM. I don't like Crucial much anymore. They just denied to me that there older sticks 512MB PC2700 don't play well with nForce2 boards. I don't think I will be buying from Crucial anymore.

To answer the question, I haven't had any problems with them and RMAs. It's easy to set up over the phone as long as you have the original order #, and they e-mail updates when they receive the bad stick and when they ship the replacement. But I'm not sure if I should buy Crucial again. I bought 2 256MB PC2100 sticks in mid-2001 and both have since gone bad. Like I said, I've had no problem with returning them, but I don't think that makes up for the fact that they went bad in the first place.
