Im in need of a new printer, my hp 832C is badly aging... (10+ years old) and since idont print all that much, im thinking of getting a laser printer. thus having the benefits of the cartridges never drying out.

Staples has this printer on sale for $249.99, $100 less than new egg, plus if you turn in an old printer, they give you a $50 MIR on top of that price. (maybe this shold be in hot deals)
But I cant find any reviews on this printer anywhere....

so does anyone have one? what do you think about it?

I have laser jet old printer (5+yr old) it is working very fine, but why you need old one better go for new one if get new one then there is no problem for maintaining the printer if you go for old one then you have to invest for their maintain so go for new one.

I've had good reliability from HP and Brother lasers, but have no experience with Lexmark.

No reviews would make me hesitate to spend that much.

I don't understand the need to spend so much on a laser when it'll be, as you put it, used not that much.

First, my bias.....I don't like Lexmark, never have, never will.

That out of the way, lately, like the last few years, have been using Samsung laser printers and couldn't be happier with them, esp. considering their prices. My main is a Samsung ML-2851ND....bought last year when Office Depot had put them on clearance for $50 or so. But while it's normally sold for around $165, it's still a great printer.....but still probably more than you need to spend.

I'd reconsider your price point and look lower. Laser printers are always on sale somewhere.......take Office Max's sale paper this week, which ends today. They have a couple of lasers for $99, both of which are more than capable for your needs, I'd wager.

The $99 sale lasers are an HP Laserjet P1006 and a Brother HL-5240. There's an HP Laserjet 1505n for $199 if you feel the need to spend. OM even has some multi-function lasers like the Brother MFC-7340 for $119, a Brother MFC-7440N for $149, and a Brother laser, the HL-2170W, with wireless capability for $109. Heck, I bought a Samsung ML-2510 for a friend at OM a month or so ago on sale for $49 and after setting it up for her, I was astonished how well and fast it printed, esp. considering its price. (It sells normally for $99.......Newegg has it for that.)

Speaking of Newegg, they are selling the aforementioned HP Laserjet P1006 for $79.99 with free shipping. I'd really look into that one.

I'd keep an eye out for sales on reasonably priced lasers.....even the cheapies print crisp, clear text. What you give up with them is blazing speed (and they're still fast, just not as fast as the expensive lasers) and drawer paper storage, which could be an issue or not.

well unfortunatley i bought it last night... however:

I like lexmark color laser printers as we hae about 75 of them at work, and I really like them. All lasers generally have great pictures, but i have found HP's lasers to be slightly noisier than the lexmarks, especially in the hp 4pass lasers with the rotating cartridge carrier.

the 2 primary reason I want a laser are (im tired of dryed out cartridges) and speed. My HP inkjet has a whopping 3ppm, while this lexmark has a nice 21ppm.

I did look at some of the samsungs, but noone had any in stock in any stores near me. so I couldnt consider them, yes I did want to buy at staples for several reasons.
(staples gift cards, unopened ink cart - return for money off new printer, and a carry in to the store repair plan.) - After returning unopened ink, gift cards, recycling 2 older cartridges, I got printer + 2 year warranty plan for just over $150.

Im not too familiar with brother printers, (although I despise their fax machines) and I have zero experience with canons. Though I must be completely opposite you BC HP is the company I refuse to buy. They were great over a decade ago when i bought my inkjet, but no longer.
