Anyone have an iTrip?

And contrary to popular belief, it worked! Got two stations to work on my radio... but 8 hours later I cannot tune back to the same stations 😕

Anyone ever have this happen? Should I just hack it open and rip out the antenna?

sepends on the area....if you are somewhere where the station you are trying to use is a reasl station, then of course it will not work 😛 When you travel across the country you often have to change the station to a non-used one!

I returned mine, sound like crap.

I just bought an aftermarket radio with an input option for real cheap from the swap shop.

the itrip is a good idea, but if you are travelling a large distance its a PITA to keep changing stations. plus the sound quality isnt all that great, and I'm not even picky about sound quality.

itrip sucks, don't u need to play some file to tune it, i like the way it looks but the belkin one that acutally has a physcial dial is more to my liking

Works fine for me, it should autmoatically connect to the same station that u used before. If you're choosing another one, select station, let the light blink, til it blinks really fast, then hit the play button. Voila.

ITrip sucks. On my old gen 2 Ipod it would lose power constantly because it used the top of three stereo rings to receive power from the Ipod battery and whenever it would get nudged at all it would lose contact with the top ring and the power would go out. I don't think the newer Ipods had this problem because IIRC it received power from the firewire/usb connector. Ipods suck too though, I sold mine! 🙂

I have one that I don't use anymore. I got tired of the tuning files being playing in shuffle mode and me losing the station I was on.

Yea, I remember having that problem too. I think my poor workaround was to make a huge playlist with all my files sans the ITrip songs and then play that on random, but it sucked updating it when I added files to my Ipod.

are you an asian dude or a long haired dude who likes things in his mouth?

(in other words, that's a drastic avatar change) 😛

Have an iTrip mini and I hate it because of how annoying it is to change stations. Not to mention the damn station tones play in shuffle mode. Not to mention sound quality sucks (but this may be a prob with all fm tuners).

rip off the sticker on top of your iTrip mini and pull the antenna out.

i sliced open my iTrip with a razor blade by cutting along the seams (avoid the 4 pins at the corners - they're a few millimeters into the case). i pulled the antenna out and now i get... "decent" reception. i live in Brooklyn (NYC) and can get almost-perfect reception on 107.9!

monster makes one. best buy has one where you push a button to cycle through 8 presets that it broadcasts on.

radioshack has one that has a digital display where you can push up or down to go through more stations.

My girly uses the one we got at best buy, it works great. the radioshack one we got for her brother for his birthday, but I haven't been in his car since his birthday.

They're both pretty expensive, but the quality is very good.

I don't like iTrips. I'd rather spend more to get a stereo that has an input for my mp3 player. I guess an iTrip has its uses for certain people, but IMO its just not worth it.

I recently got a newer car. I had put a new CD player in my old car, but my newer car was a 95 and still had a tape deck. For $5 I got the tape adapter and it sounds better than an iTrip any day. I briefly considered getting a new head unit, but why would I bother? The tape deck pwns.
