Anyone have an ALi Magik1 motherboard?

Just need to find some information for something that I am putting together.

If you have an ASUS A7A266, A7A266-E or Iwill XP333, and you have either an SBLive or an Audigy, do you have any problems?

I had an A7A266 for a while with SBLive - no problems at all but I'm not a gamer. My friend who has it now, and is a moderate gamer, uses a Live as well and hasn't reported anything.

Hey Andy, I'll be setting up my XP333R tommorrow with my SB Live, I'll put it through the paces for sure.

I have had zero issues with an I-will XP333R using an Audigy, TBSC, or Philips AE. I finally settled on the Audigy with this board.

I have an Iwill XP333-R. The onboard C-media sound is as good as a SB Live. It is an awsome motherboard. Super stable and a great performer.

On a related note. I've been comtemplating getting an ALi Magik1 based motherboard but I have a question. I have an ALi Aladdin V based Super7 motherboard that has this bad behavior and I'm wondering if the Magik1 chipset behaves similarly.

Basically, when I move the mouse on the Aladdin V based motherboard, things seem to stutter a bit. DVD playback becomes jerky while I move the mouse. It's almost like the mouse is sending interrupts and the Aladdin V can't handle them fast enough and therefore things like DVD playback stutters.

I tried moving my mouse on other systems (Intel TX and BX, Via MVP3, and SIS 735) and DVD playback doesn't seem to be affected. But on the Aladdin V, it stutters like crazy.

Does the Magik1 have similar behavior with regards to the mouse?

Got my XP333-R setup last night. Setup the SBLive with the native XP drivers and then installed Livewire 3 XP. No games installed yet. Same score 3DMark 2002SE (4500) before and after installing the soundcard. Captured 720x480 NTSC mpeg-2 IBP Frames 15MB/sec no dropped frames, audio in perfect sync. Moved 25GB AVI video capture file from my RAID array to my Main drive while listening to Winamp (Brother Cane) no crackles, no stuttering.

So far, no issues. The onboard sound was also easily disabled by setting a jumper.

I saw your post, I hadn't tried the DVD player yet so I threw "Police Academy" in (it was handy) and using ATI DVD 7.5, playback was smooth, and no issues with my mouse or stuttering, even while moving files during windowed playback.

That's great news! That means I will definitely consider getting an Ali Magik based motherboard when it is time to upgrade one of my systems....

Hmmm... strange. I have an ALi Aladdin V motherboard (BCM VP-1541) and do not have this problem. I use a PS2 mouse with the refresh rate set at 100 Hz. Is your mouse PS2, serial or USB? Also is your video card PCI or AGP?
