Sister bought a washer/dryer combo on sale with the PSP (3 years). Washer gave out a few days before 3 year PSP expired. Was replaced and installed after the serviceman that came in and declared it "defective".

Of course it helped that I used to work at the Best Buy (1992-1999) near me. :sneaky:

Yeah, I worked there for a year and bought tons of cheap shit.
I worked there over christmas. It was a nice place to work. Had a good manager, I knew my products, and the customers are generally nice.

CDs, DVDs, and games are well priced. Even with the employee discount (cost plus 10%), employees usually pay the same price as regular customers. Computers are cheap. TVs and monitors are not.

Something similar happened to my dad. He bought a hard drive at Best Buy and when he brought it home he complained to me that it didn't fit. I looked at it and it was obviously an old hard drive with an IDE connection (was supposed to be a SATA drive). He was able to go back and get it exchanged for a new one though which surprised me. I felt for sure he would easily be screwed by this kind of thing.

BBY is very overpriced, the people who go there buy PS3's with credit cards and say stuff like "if it breaks I'll just buy another *smug face*"

Overall the entire place is a zone for morons.

Circuit City impressed me many times and failed only a few. Best Buy only met expectations many times and failed a few. RIP, CC.

Sure. I bought a $99 touchpad online, and today stopped by and bought an HP case for $24.xx (50% off). No complaints. :p

A few years back I was renting a condo and the dish washer was a complete hunk of garbage. My landlord agreed that I could go out, purchase the unit, install it and in turn, take $400 of my next months rent. This seemed fair as I wanted a new washer and my landlord didn't want to deal with it. :)

I went to BB and picked out the washer I wanted. The "not a sales guy but really a sales guy" said they didn't have it in stock. He briefly pretended to check his inventory and said no store had it in stock. The washer I wanted was I believe $175. This extremely helpful gentlemen who was simply trying to offer me the best service possible informed me that the $599 unit was available right now and could be delivered this afternoon.

Anyway, I said no thanks and walked away, went over to the TV section and found a guy stocking shelves. I asked him to go look in the back and see if they had the washer I wanted. He said he didn't need to, he would just look in the inventory system. This guy was totally cool and said they had 25 units in stock, at that store, right NAO!

So, me and the guy from TVs went up and chatted with the duty manager. The duty manager escorted me back over to appliances and made the "not a sales guy" fullfil the order. I got $25 off and free delivery that afternoon.

There are good people at Best Buy but there are really terrible people there as well. The trick is finding the good people.

I went in to pick up iTunes gift cards that were on sale. Cashier rang them up at $15 for $20 worth of gift cards.

Confused look. Clear. Scans again.

Confused look. Clear. Scans again.

Me: "What's going on?"
Her: "It's ringing up at the wrong price."
Me: "It's on sale."
Her: "Oh."

Then I left.

Positive experience?

A friend and I stopped at a Best Buy when they first expanded to the area. My friend was looking for bookcase speakers. He picked up a box and went to the checkout.

The cashier stated that the speakers were sold as a pair. My friend said no problem, as that was standard.

Well, the cashier called back to the home stereo section and told the stocker to bring another box to the front.

We get back to his house. Open the boxes. The boxes have two speakers each. So, he got four speakers for the price of two.

The next day, his dad tried to return a couple of the speakers. The returns guy accused him of trying to pull a scam. The checker at the door would have never let that happen. The store was open maybe a couple of days; everyone was green. Obviously, a mistake was made.

So, the dad set up the speakers in his workshop. To this day, he laughs about the incident.

I went there to buy a specific model of calculator that was permitted on the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
They had it in stock.
I bought one.
I left.
I took the test and passed.
Great success.
