A few years back I was renting a condo and the dish washer was a complete hunk of garbage. My landlord agreed that I could go out, purchase the unit, install it and in turn, take $400 of my next months rent. This seemed fair as I wanted a new washer and my landlord didn't want to deal with it.
I went to BB and picked out the washer I wanted. The "not a sales guy but really a sales guy" said they didn't have it in stock. He briefly pretended to check his inventory and said no store had it in stock. The washer I wanted was I believe $175. This extremely helpful gentlemen who was simply trying to offer me the best service possible informed me that the $599 unit was available right now and could be delivered this afternoon.
Anyway, I said no thanks and walked away, went over to the TV section and found a guy stocking shelves. I asked him to go look in the back and see if they had the washer I wanted. He said he didn't need to, he would just look in the inventory system. This guy was totally cool and said they had
25 units in stock, at that store, right NAO!
So, me and the guy from TVs went up and chatted with the duty manager. The duty manager escorted me back over to appliances and made the "not a sales guy" fullfil the order. I got $25 off and free delivery that afternoon.
There are good people at Best Buy but there are really terrible people there as well. The trick is finding the good people.
