I know the LSI 320-2e requires a minimum of x4 to run in the pci express slot, and I know some have gotten the card to run on the DFI lanparty ultra-d non sli version. Are there any other 939 socket mobo that will work with the LSI 320-2e?

Thank You

2los,

I am working on getting this working on an A8N-SLI Premium. My first card was doa and I am getting another. Several people have gotten this setup to work on this and other SLI boards on the second PCi-e 8x slot (DFI the first slot). Basically, you have to give up SLI on these boards. These cards need a minume of 4x as stated and most boards (at least SLI boards) the 4x slot is really only two lanes. I will test it in the 4x slot but I am not hopeful that they are really 2x on these boards I believe (not sure yet).

Probaly end of week I will have some more information. It looks like the new NF4 chipsets with 40 lanes will have a true 4x lane (asus a32N-sli or the DFI version). This would be aswsome if it is true because SLI with this card would become reality.

Dell card almost exactly the same. Bios is different and for some reason you can not flash it with the LSI bios, kills the card. The intel version is the same way. Just go to ebay and there are tons of used ones under $300. Be careful though because there was a lot of prototype cards dumbed on ebay and production bios upgrades will not work, it will kill the card. Otherwise the same card. Just look for the screw on heatsink (all production) vs. spring held (some production and some prototype). Otherwise you can tell from the bios reveision.

Just got my third 320-2e (non prototype LSI Bios 514L) and I got it to work in both SLI spots (first two were DOA - be careful getting these of eBay - Just look for the cards with the screw on heat sink not the spring based). I also got the card to work in the 4x slot. This is what I did, basically dremel out the end of the 4x slot (which runs at 2x) and be careful. Then let the end of the card overhang in the 4x slot. Boots every time and works awesome. Plus you can have SLI if you want. If you need better instructions to convert the 4x slot to work with the 320-2e on your a8n-sli premium; PM me.

Good Luck,
PapaH
