Anyone have a Vita, and like it?

A friend of mine is selling his Vita, and I'm interested because of P4 Golden and FFX HD. Does anyone here enjoy theirs? How's the PSN market? I want one basically for just those games, but also slightly weary. He's selling it at a good price though..hmm:hmm:

If you have PlayStation Plus, you can get a decent amount of free games. A free game should be removed today and a new one added, but I'm not sure which.

I do own a vita, but honestly, I don't use it that much. Albeit, I don't use my PSP or DS Lite that much either. It's not a bad console. I do think the OS could be a bit better as it has some wonky aspects to it, but it works.

EDIT:

I took a peek at Sony's online store, and at the moment, the following Vita-playable games are free for PS Plus members:
Tekken 6 (PSP)
Plants vs. Zombies
Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X (PSP)
WipeOut 2048
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Gravity Rush

I like my vita just fine. And, in fact, hardware wise, I like it much better than my 3ds.

Now, game wise? Not so much. I do own around 4 games for it, plus I bought some psp games off the psn that work on it too. And, I like all the ones that I do own (but I have strange taste...really liking games that other people can't stand). But, if/until they get a more robust library, I can't really recommend it.

Bought mine lightly used for $150 near release and don't regret it. There aren't a lot of games out there for it, but the few I do enjoy I've played a lot. Honestly I've played more Zen Pinball on that thing than anything else combined, and the fact that it's a cross buy to the PS3 versions is nice. I also bought a year of PSN+ which also has helped.

I usually grab the Vita for some quick couch gaming over my phone just because the game quality is better, and I don't want to drain my phone battery.

I was so many hours on pin ball games I don't understand it. At one point, I was like in the top 300 on XBL for the pin ball game they have. I must have put a hundred hours into it.

Didn't like mine at all. Sold ny 3ds to get it, and hated the decision after about a month.

With the PS+; I'm guessing that after the month is up those free games are gone and you can't play them anymore, or do you own them forever then?

I bought mine at launch and I like it. I won't say I love it though because there are still several major issues with it.

For starters, the price Sony charges for the memory cards is a ripoff. IIRC, it was Eurogamer who discovered they were basically equivalent to Class 6 MicroSD in terms of performance. In other words Sony is putting cheap NAND in them and marking them up 400%. There's absolutely no reason why the 32GB cards should be $100.

The other problem is games, or lack there of. Third party developers don't want to make games for it because the Vita isn't selling. But it isn't selling because there's no must have games for it. This is where Sony should have stepped up and released stellar first party titles to get the ball rolling. Granted both Uncharted: Golden Abyss and LBP: Vita are both stellar games. However, then we get something like Resistance Burning Skies. Resistance is a core franchise and they released rubbish version for the portable. If Sony themselves won't put the effort in, who will?

A lot of it's apps aren't that great either. The web browser still sucks. This thing in theory is more powerful than my iPhone 4S but it still struggles to load Google Maps.

I am looking forward to being able to play all PS4 games on it via remote play. Though by the time that comes out, the Vita will already be a dinosaur.

The games are only available "for purchase" at no cost for a limited time. To be clear, you own the rights to play them forever; however, you can only play the games while you are a PlayStation Plus member. If your subscription lapses, you will not be able to play the full game (some games will revert to a demo). If you renew your subscription, you will be able to play them again.

Most people are doing the 12 month subscription, which comes with a free three months. This ought to be plenty of time for even the most casual of gamers!

The O/S is terrible on it too.

The web browser is terrible. Such a disappointment for a device with its capability.

The games were ok, but I found I didn't use it and didn't like it, sold it after 3 weeks or so of owning one.

Yup

You can also "purchase" any free PS+ game without downloading it, and it'll still count on your account and you can download it later and play as long as you're still a plus member.

PS+ members also get discounts on a lot of games, and if you buy games using the discounted PS+ price you get to keep that game forever. Even when you're no longer a subscriber.

I like mine, especially since I have a PS plus subscription. If you're going to get one be prepared for the inflated memory card prices, because you're going to need one if you intend to get into digital downloads at all. It's a solid system, and despite what people say there are a lot of good games for it (as long as you aren't hung up on one specific genre).

All that said I don't play mine a ton. Thought the same could be said of any of my handheld systems. When I do go away for a weekend, or go on a fight or whatever I really like having it and it sure beats playing dumbed down IOS games.

For those PlayStation Plus members or those that might be persuaded, Disgaea 3 is now one of the PlayStation Plus freebies. I think that's about 5 Vita games that I've gotten for free so far! I'm tempted to just sell my copy of Uncharted since I got it for free already.

100 games this year, not over the next few years.

Also, if you're into indie PC games, a lot of them are getting ported to Vita and PS3 if you haven't played them yet (Limbo, Binding of Isaac, Hotline Miami, etc.).

What are the current playstation plus free games?

Everything that I've listed above, but I think one is off the list as Disgaea 3 is now for free. Games will typically revolve and stay on the free list for a month. Gravity Rush and Uncharted are part of the PlayStation Plus 12+3 promotion, so that's why they've been available for awhile.

By the way, you can check out the PSN Store online:

Looks like they took out PvZ for Disgaea...awesome lol.

I know I'm going to be getting the Vita but don't have it yet. Is there any way to activate a PS+ membership and "buy" the game before I get the Vita and then it'll be available? Is that possible just from that store?

It should be. If you have a PSN/SEN (Sony Entertainment Network) account, you should be able to go to the store (online or on PS3), buy plus from there, and then "buy" the free games. They'll show up on your download queue for you to download them later.

Persona 4...I played once through and it took about 70 hours. Played a second time through (there are 4 different endings and multiple story options as you move along through the game) and got 60 hours. Now I'm 14 hours into my 3rd time through it. New Game+ is totally awesome for this title.

I also really enjoyed Gravity Rush, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Little big Planet, Wipeout 2048, and PS All Stars.

I got more fun out of my Vita than both my WiiU and Xbox 360 combined. However I am playing Monster Hunter on WiiU which is going to definitely eat up my time.

Neat UI.

Downloaded and played Tekken 6 for about an hour then uninstalled it. Right now I have Maverick Hunter X and Gravity Rush installed. Will play those then Uncharted and finally Disgaea.
