I work at a hotel and have to do tech support on the phones and ice machines because people are too stupid to read the f'ing phone or press the large black button to dispense ice. Does that count?

I am the network manager at my company. I support around 20-25 users at any one time with desktop issues aswell as maintaining around a dozen different servers spread across Windows 2k, Redhat Linux and FreeBSD.

These include an MS Exchange server, several linux (Apache) and windows (IIS) web servers, three SQL servers (MS SQL 7 and 2k), a dedicated Windows 2k file server, a Win2k VPN server, FreeBSD Postfix mail server, Linux BIND DNS servers... I also maintain the whole network, wired and wireless. Along with remote users spread all over the state. I also solely support a remote office 350 miles away that has a Win2k File server, Web server, and several workstations.

I have one technician who works for me and does the stuff I'd rather not... if he's technical capable.

As for questions, shoot away...

I don't know why people think that fixing other people's problems sounds like an interesting career choice.

Isn't every job just solving someone else's problems?

I handle onsite support, a little network administration, a few programming projects, and, when bored, I also making purchasing decisions for a research group. I'm also bored at the moment so question away.

I guess if you want to say that the people who make SPAM are fixing a problem, then yes.

The Hormel company needs SPAM to sell and it doesn't appear out of thin air, that's a problem. The people that make it solve that problem.
