This is an HD set top box with a dvr (160gb) from cox, it has a connection to "Archive to vcr" on the back, I am wondering if I can get the recordings in to my computer some how? or maybe if I bought a DVD recorder and hooked the output for vcr archiving to the dvd recorder that might work?

Have you tried connecting it to a VCR? It's quite probably they have that part disabled on their system.

I dont have a vcr to try it with.

They talk about this feature in FAQ's on the product home page and in the manual, so it should be working, I really dont want to go from HD to tape and then to my computer just to get it on
dvd though.
