I was looking at the Acer Aspire V5 and the only thing I could really ask more from it, is to have a DisplayPort. The laptop does have an "Acer Converter Port", which is identical in pins and shape as a mini-DP, the Acer website says this about it:
The Acer Connector Port uses the same physical port as a Mini DisplayPort, but it is designed to connect to an Acer proprietary cable. If you connect a DisplayPort monitor, Acer cannot guarantee the functionality of the monitor.
No damage should occur to either monitor or notebook by connecting a Mini DisplayPort cable.

Since the site didn't exactly close the door on using it as a mini-DP (for a monitor), just that it "doesn't guarantee functionality". I was wondering if anyone who owns one of these, has tried it to see if it works, either partial or full functionality with a DP monitor?
