Just got back from the dealer, drove a fully loaded one with Nav and Moonroof.

Costco deal is 30,363 (invoice for that car - 3000 off MSRP)

The car drove amazing, never faulted in the corners.....interior is very nice, I was worried about Mazda quality, but had no concerns after driving it.

Anyone have one, or driven one? Thoughts, suggestions?

I'm trying to get a fun car to drive 50 miles everyday to work.....that has decent features but not much over 30k

If you can find an '06, you can go straight through the dealer and get a "Sport" trim for around 22k and a GT trim for around $25k.

'07's don't have the same discounts.

For the 30k costco is charging you, there are better options.

I think you should try and look for some dealers that are still offering rebates.

meh...

2006 MazdaSpeed6

Horsepower : 274 hp @ 5500 rpm
Torque : 280 lb-ft @ 3000rpm
Redline : unknown

Top speed : 150 mph
0-60 mph : 6.2 sec.
0-¼ mile : 14.7 sec @ 96.5 mph(estimated)
60-0 braking distance : 121 ft(estimated)
Curb Weight : 3500 lbs(estimated)

2006 Honda Accord V6 EX-L

Horsepower : 244 hp
Torque : 211 lb-ft('06)
Redline : 6750 rpm

Top speed : 130 mph(electronicallly limited)
0-60 mph : 5.9 sec.(manual), 6.9 sec.(auto)
0-¼ mile : 14.5 sec @ 98.0 mph
60-0 braking distance : 127 ft
Curb Weight : 3265-3358 lbs

Now I realize that the Honda is FWD while the Mazda is AWD, but still, I bought my '06 Accord V6 EX-L for $25k, fully loaded with navi, all the way down to the heated seats, chromed exhaust, 17" rims, and low profile tires. I looked at the mazda speed6, and at that price I couldn't justify the cost, plus honda's interior is far better than mazda's IMHO (I think mazda interiors are kinda cheap). If I was shopping in your price range, I'd be looking toward the G35.

I should also note, the Accord gets better fuel economy (21/30) and does this all on 87 octane. You can use 91 octane if you want, the ECU will detect it and it will actually add roughly 10hp and 10lb of torque.

Plus the Mazda just has a much more sport tuned suspension than family oriented Accord.

I'm lookin at modernracer.com. BTW, I know you'd think that, and the suspension in the mazda is nice, but have you actually driven the new V6 accords? I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

There will be an 07. That's part of the reason the 06's have such big discounts, and could see more later.

Sorry, this is an 07....Fully Loaded. I dont want the cheaper Sport Package one.

This is a Costco Price, but it's at a dealer. Free service loaners for any service, free weekly hand car wash for life.

30363 is the invoice, and thats a good price.

There were absolutely no changes between '06 and '07 AFAIK. I know that you can pretty easily get the '06 Grand Touring for around $25k.

That's $5,000 less. You can pay for a hell of a lot of car washes with that.

How bout factors such as handling and fun? My friend's accord ex drives like a family car... and he doesn't get many looks seeing how the accord is one of the most common vehicles out there right next to the camry.

Hmm.

Mazdaspeed6: AWD Turbo 4Cyl, sport-tuned.

Accord: FWD 6cyl, non-tuned.

Not even in the same damn category.

I'm going to test drive a loaded MS6 tomorrow, and the dealer quoted me ~$25k after rebates. They have three to choose from...and all are the decked out GT versions.

yeah, 2006 has 3500 in rebates right now......2007 has none unless you use their financing.

Although you can get 1.9, 2.9, 3.9 for 36,48,60 months on the 2007.

I'll see if they have any 2006's around I guess.

I'm also going to look at the G35 Sedan tomorrow.

just FYI, all 6 speed accords have the following improvements over automatic V6 models;

retuned suspension
front strut bar
bigger brakes/rotors
bigger/wider wheels/tires
dual stage intake manifold
revised/less restrictive intake

The accords got more power for '06 and the 6 speed V6 now traps nearly 100 mph in the 1/4.

Of course everyone here jacks off to mazda and subaru, and hates on hondas, facts and details be damned.

One final thing, if you go to mazda's website, note they require the mazdaspeed 6 runs 93 octane fuel. Which you can't even buy in half the country.

You can't buy 93 in half the country? That's news to me, but it doesn't really matter to me since I already need 93 in my current car, and it's readily available in my part of the country.

As for the Accord, I think you are taking things a little personal. I don't really see anyone saying the Honda is bad, just that the accord and MS6 are different types of cars.

Are you going to disagree the accord is more of a family oriented sedan than the a Legacy GT or a MS6?

Actually he is correct, a lot of the country has 87, 89, 91 instead of 93,

Grrr.

Damn lying dealerships.

I've been wanting one but my lease isn't up until mid 07. I test drove the MS6 and they told me this is it because Mazda only does one MazdaSpeed edition per year and the 3 is next on the list for 07.

Oh well. Maybe the 07's won't sell well either and I can get a dirt cheap lease.

I thought 91 was the rarity...any specs for what parts don't have it?

Mazdaspeed6 is almost a real sports car - Accord V6 is a family car with a 6-speed transmission. The two do not compare.
