anyone have a leatherman? what do you guys think of it?

I used to use the smallest one as a keychain. very useful, came in handy quite often fixing glasses and as sissors.

but i lost too many at airport security/courthouse security. It would be useful to have in the car glovebox or center console though.

I don't think the leathermand is going to do anything for you in the car...I have a Wave. Main use is opening blister pack with the serrated edge 😀

My hiking buddy has one. I thought of getting one but decided it was too big - unwieldy in ratio to its utility.

ive got a leatherman with needlenose pliers in my tool box. i also have a gerber tool with pretty hefty pliers on it in my center console. they do come in handy for many things.

The leatherman's junk. The metal is too brittle, and(on the classic) the tools tend to fold when you're using them.

I have one in my car..i have a Gerber that i like a lot better (Pliers are spring loaded for one thing) that was about half the price that I use at work.

The wave is amazing. Just don't tell anyone that you have it, because they will try to use it for everything.

i dont think you have any idea what the fuck you're talking about.

i have a leatherman wave. of the multitools i've used, it is by far the best.

I've probably owned a Leatherman longer than you've been alive, I think I have an idea of what I'm talking about ;^)

I have a Wave as well, and really like it. It doesn't see heavy use, but comes in pretty handy in the occasional project or while camping.

yuore right, using them with too much force makes them fold on themselves (and your fingers) easily. theres a reason the newer ones have better locking mechs on them. my gerber folds like that also, but the newer ones dont. i also realize that my leatherman is a tool made for light duty, if i need to torque down ill get the real tool for the job.

I like the Gerbers better than Lethermans for general design, but found that the pliers are far more delicate on the Gerber and prone to failure when twisting.

I carry one whenever I wear jeans, but rarely use anything other than the knife. Also carry it when hiking.

I have a Leatherman Wave; it's about 7 years old at this point and still in great shape. The 4 big blades have locks on them and I've never had one fold on me. I have even used the saw blade to cut notches in wood and the file on metal burrs with no probs.

I find the construction to be exemplary. Everything still snaps/clicks with authority and none of the tools are bent. Even the leather case is thick leather and the snap still works. I take it on every business trip I go on (checked in my suitcase). The bottle opener has come in mighty handy quite a few times. 😉 I've also effected emergency minor laptop repairs with it.

A++ would buy again! :thumbsup:

After I lost my pocket knife, I picked up the Leatherman Skeletool. It's light and I carry it around with me wherever I go. Always seem to have a use for it.

I have a few of them. i love them.

when i had my farm i used it all the time. now th at im in "town" i don't use it as much. but i still use it a lot

i've never seen the blades on my wave fold on me.

I have a few of them around the house but found they're to big for my taste to keep in my pocket all the time.

Now days I keep this on me since it gives me a lot of function but isn't to bulky in my pocket.

Another vote for the wave. Mine is a newer model, and I have had no trouble with any of the locking mechanisms. As others have said, these are for light duty, and they do it well. Mine is perfect out on the boat fishing.

I've got a Leatherman Micra on my keychain and it comes in handy often, love it. I got a Wave for christmas this year and I keep it in the center console of my truck. Haven't needed it yet 🙂
