WTF? Is that possible?

Somehow wiring my computer up to high-voltage electrical outlets does not seem like a safe thing to do...

hehe, well your computer gets power from somewhere ;)

It is connected either through USB or a NIC.

speed depends on the amount of subscriber and this just started here and most people who live close here are old people I´m safe

speed is from 256kbps-4.5mbps
price with 1gb download outside of the country is 4500kr .. about $40.. I pay a little more than that now for a 256kbps adsl connection with 1gb outside.

interesting, where do you live?

from what i've heard, the potential bandwidth for this is pretty damn big.

Yeah, lucky me to be able to get this but unlucky me that I have to pay for bandwith and the speed I can get on adsl, cable and this thing is extremely low compared to how its in the US and isnt bandwith free in the US?

It's called Powerline technology and a very viable internet solution. Many companies are investing in it as the infrastructure is already there. If you go to CompUSA, Fry's, etc. you will aready see technologies to create your own home network through your electrical outlets dubbed homeplug technolgy. The bandwidth you are allocated is decided by your ISP but I can guarantee that the technology allows for transfers up to and perhaps past 11Mbits.
