Higher than here in Philly? Wow, good luck living out there.

Aren't apartments super high over there? $1200 for a 2 bedroom apartment?
That's not a bad price.

I have never discussed what I make with my friends, and they've never discussed their income with me. Can't see any reason to do so.

I've had a couple acquaintances who like talking about that stuff, but I'm not real interested in becoming friends with people like that.

Keep changing the subject if he brings it up. If he won't leave it alone, then use caller ID to avoid his calls.

And folks, THIS is one of the many reasons why it's always been a major Faux Pax to talk about how much you make, or to ask other how much they make.

Live and learn. What you make is no one else's business and what they make is none of your business.

tell your friend that you know someone on AT that makes more than him.... for example, me... :D

seriously, it really isn't cool to talk about stuff like this if there's some sort of competition between the two of you.

Let's just say this girl and her friends think they're so much smarter and so much better than I am, while they can't compete with half of me.

Yea, he may make more money than me but he doesnt have half the brain he thinks he has. He's 25 and STILL doesnt have an undergraduate degree. Hmmmm, go figure. It really bothers me to know he still holds a grudge, even though he doesnt come out to say it. It bother me even more knowing I liked the kid and growing up I didnt care too much about who was smarter, etc...

It hurts very much to hear him talk down about me and my gf, but these type of ppl will never end up on top.

Wow and he's a nurse, hmmm.

That sucks. My cousin and I make cracks about that kind of thing but we never take it seriously. I got a BS degree and work in the medical field, and hit sits around playing videogames all day (at work) and gets paid $11k/yr more than I do.

time to make new friends.. it's not always about money.. if he insists on comparing you two based on money, then well good for him.. it shoudln't bother you cause you're smarter than that right?

Move him to the most outer circle of your friends and begin to build your inner circle without him. He's no friend. I'd start to think of him as an acquaintence.

I think you're both jealous of each other and both of you need to grow up and realize what's more important or just move on altogether.

I on the other hand makes $2000/month after taxes and upon hearing this he would rub it in. I try to explain to the moron that the cost of living in Cali is higher than that of Philly. besides he's some sort of a nurse and yes his field does pay more money. so what, i enjoy what i do.

anyways, i saw him a month ago and it seems ever since then he has taken things personally. His dad doesnt like me very much, only because he knows i'm smarter than his son and he doesnt want his son to "lose" to me. For me, it's complete nonsense and I could careless. However, it's irritating since he would call and talk about his job and now all of a sudden says his gf makes more money than me and that i cant compete with her business. I guess my real estate business isn't good enough for him and knowing that I'm worth approx $425k in real estate hurts him. It's not liquid but it is what it is.

Sorry to vent, but these are the type of friends I dont need in my life.

So... it doesn't bother you. It does seem to bother you.... <sigh>.

I don't think that is why his dad doesn't like you, but I don't know for sure.

Here is a cookie. :cookie: He doesn't seem like much of a friend. Just ignore him.

That seems like the kind of situation that my staunch apathy would have steered me clear of before I ever became entanlged in it.

I have a friend who is like this. I didn't have a job for a while and he rubbed it in my face. Really pissed me off at the time because I was already depressed about the situation, but I figured he was just lashing out because he just got out of a 4-yr relationship. So I didn't say anything. He wasn't like this before when we were younger.

He says really mean and stupid things sometimes, especially when things don't go his way (he is a really sore loser), but I shrug it off since we have been friends for about 14 years now. Sometimes though, I just want to slug him, so that he gets the point.

Sounds like you guys have quite a little problem. lol, and you consider each other "friends." Yes, it is not wise to talk money with friends, because someone will come out not so well.
