If by "hate" you mean "think the job pays well and the work itself is potentially really cool, but the Corporate red-tape BULLSHITE that permeates throughout the business ties your hands behind your back and represses your creativity and willingness to actually get anything done", then yes.

Ah darn, I thought that was only at my company.

What is it with red-tape and corporate politics? I'm having trouble finding companies that don't have that.

I think we can all relate to that. Because if our jobs were exciting, we would not be here at ATOT.

If you ever see large lapses in posting from me, it's because I'm working on a project that I enjoy.
I'm not allowed to post at work. I'm not supposed to leave my desk except to use the bathroom or to go on break. I can't even check my company email on the clock.

What do you do?

Man, you gotta get the hell out right now. Are you even looking for another job?

No, its complicated. The area where we live has few programming jobs, and I am lucky to have the one I have (in a way). I live within a few miles of both my aging parents and my wife's aging parents. We want to be near them as they grow older. Also, we have all the usual entanglements like a house, friends, etc. so we would like to stay in the area.

Maybe it's time to get out of programming and look at another field? I know I've been in grpahic design for years, but I'm looking around at other options now. For you, the most important part should be that you are happy, and it sounds like this job is just making you miserable.

I think about this all the time. If I can come up with something that interests me and makes enough money, I'm out of IT forever. I'm only 34 years old, and I can't imagine doing this for another 20 years.

I hate my job so much. Retail is the most horrible field to go into, of course for a first year college student with no experience and only 4 months to work, coming back to my high school job was my only option.

Customers are terrible, who the hell ever came up with the idea that the customer is always right? Whatever moron gave them that sense of entitlement should be shot, because every single one of those slack jawed morons can and should die for all I care. The only satisfaction I will ever get from my job is, A. Looking at drunk naked females when i develop their photos (rare), B. Helping an older person who truly needs my help (people who can actually read the signs that say pain relief don't need me to take them to the tylenol) or C. Telling an idiot who wants to return something for cash without a receipt that I'm the manager and they can go to hell (they don't know I'm not the manager).

Oh yeah, and catching people stealing, that my absolute favorite although its tough when most of the time the managers stick you behind the counter cause everyone else in the store is new and incompetant at photo.

I love my job. I love my job so much that I will never leave and work 80 hour weeks from now until I die. I will sacrifice my firstborn child to my job.

<-- posting from work. 😉

But really, I like my job a lot.

I somewhat hate my job.. I wish I got paid more, but it's not the worst... and sometimes I enjoy the odd task here, but not always.

I will be doing something about it after my education gets some more work.. (probably next year)
