Hi

I'm running an lg 16x dvd drive which is udma33 as secondary master and a samsung 8x cdburner which I assume is pio4 mode. The dvd playback was terrible and I moved the dvd to slave on primary because my hard disk is udma33 as well and it seems to be better. I'm running a 500 celeron with an s3 trio3d display card. My question is, if I upgrade the celeron to a 1.2 and I run the dvd on the same channel as the writer (we'll be back to piomode 4 for the both of them) would my dvd playback be better because of the higher cpu speed or would it be worth my while to get a burner that uses udma33 as well?

Thanks

Get a UDMA33 burner because cpu speed won't help it if its stuck in PIO mode. Another thing you can do is buy a cheap PCI ATA133 card and hook your DVD drive up to it. They sell for between $15-25 so its cheaper then a new burner and it will let your DVD drive run in DMA mode.
