That's not funny, that's sad. It's probably because those sites are written with outdated browsers in mind and don't work properly with newer browsers. For example, in my hospital the intranet pages won't display correctly in Firefox or Chrome, but only IE6. I talked to some of the IT folks, and they're saying that they're having real issues updating the browser even to IE8 because it breaks compatibility with a lot of the intranet pages.

we went through the same thing at work. just recently got to win7 and running IE8 cant do 9 because too much inhouse stuff is broken with it was bad enough getting to IE8

5, to check out features and for task segregation. ie is installed by default anyways. separate tabs by browser, works ok.

its not like they take a lot of drive space to install now.

i'm always surprised at how apple neglects safari though..

I have Opera and Firefox never used internet explorer, Opera is my main browser, i love that it allows me to put the tabs in the left side, it is so much easier to have a lots of tabs open at once that way.

I only have Chrome and IE on my work laptop. Some work sites only display properly on IE so it's necessary. At home I have FF, Chrome and IE on my desktop and laptop. I sync Chrome across all machines and Android devices so if I want to view questionable content I typically use FF as I don't want certain stuff syncing to work.
