From what I've seen from others, it's a rather common issue. The general consensus is that the current software doesn't have the PCI device IDs in it for the OEM A2, so the program doesn't realize what you've got. If you were feeling motivated, you could hack the ctcomp.oem file that stores that info (that's what people have done in the past to install the A2 drivers on their Audigy/Live/etc cards). However, last I heard, the version of the drivers that comes on the CD with the OEM card is the same as the latest version on Creative's website (if you look at the actual file version numbers), so there's nothing to worry about :)

We'll see what happens with the next driver release :p

I had an Audigy 2 retail version and there were like 5 updates needed for it , using the "auto update" on Creative's site
did not work, I had to manually download the driver update in order for it to install.

Now I returned that Audigy 2 because I paid like $140 for it after taxes and a week later I found an OEM verison for $65 shipped.
Anyways the OEM version came with the latest software, no updates are needed so perhaps this is why you get this error?

As far as the drivers go the very latest available is the 5.12.1.324 which is what the OEM came with. The retail card came with
5.12.1.323 . The CD version (located on the paper sleeve) with the latest drivers is 3201ML0000146.

:) Yeah I am sure Creative will work it out. As far as I can tell the current drivers are excellent though.

Thanks for the information guys. The paper sleeve does have 3201ml0000146 printed on it, so I do have the latest drivers. I extracted the latest driver offering on the creative site and ran an .exe inside one of the folders and it did appear to install, not that I needed it. Anyway, that might be an option if future upgrades fail to install.

Also on a side note, I was not really impressed with the retail version I had but I still bought the OEM because I need it for
game sound compatibility. Anways this could be a bit of a placebo-ish effect since I paid less for the card but I am in love with this
OEM Audigy 2, I have NEVER heard a PC audio card like this before...OMG plug in UT2K3 , crank up the volume and you are THERE!!
I am blown away by the Audigy 2.
