anyone had problem with Samsung F1 drives dropping from the array?

I have 2 F1 750GB connected an an ich7r (and now ich9r) and it seems one of the drives likes to drop from the array regularly. It degrades the array so I had to rebuilt several times.

does anyone had similar problems?

thank you.

That happened to me regularly with ICH9R RAID arrays.

so it's a problem with the chipset and not the drives?

I suppose you experience the problem using HDDs other than Samsung F1?

thank you for the reply 🙂

Experienced it with Western Digital 6400AAKS, Samsung HD501LJ, and a Seagate 7200.11.

Hmm this dissapearing hard drive problem popped up again for me last night and this morning.

I noticed that it was always happening to any hard drive connected to two particular ports on my P45 motherboard.

I noticed both of these ports had the same SATA type cable, the green UV one that came with my DFI motherboard, while the perfectly fine ports had generic SATA cables.

I swapped the green cables out, low and behold the ports work fine.

So jarthel, maybe try swapping SATA cables around to see if your dissapearing drives stop dissapearing.
