Why is it so hard to believe that people enjpy smoking?

Because I did it for 20 years. There is nothing enjoyable at all about smoking. Not from the first puff when I was 11 till the last one last year. I "thought" it was enjoyable, and once I quit, I realized in hindsight how it really is. While in the thick of it all and fully addicted of course I really enjoyed it!

Smoking cigarettes is not the same as pipe/weed/cigar smoking. It's not even the same sport.

How is smoking a cig not related to smoking a pipe? whats in the cig?, tobacco, whats in the pipe? tobacco. Hmm i think i see the similarities between the two.

Some people can make that leap I suppose. Not many I would assume given how addictive nicotine is. But its feasible. Once you hit like 10 cigarettes a day for like a week, theres no way you continue to do that without some driving force. Usually thats addiction.

PMs? we wouldn't be talking about E-cigs anymore.

my alcoholism and my 945 days of continuous sobriety are an open matter.

I've actually starved my body of nicotine for weeks just to see what the withdrawal symptoms would be without the intent of actually quitting. I have quit smoking for nearly a year and made a decision to start back up. I know that addiction is rarely ever truly physical. I know that it lies in the mind and relies on fear.

I hate PMs. Those are only for talking smack about the Mods

You accuse other people of "rationalizing", but you're the only one I see doing it :^D

Hey, whatever makes you feel good about quitting smokes, but don't delude yourself for a second. People smoke because it's enjoyable. Anyone who that says otherwise is either a liar, or retarded.

There is a number of MASSIVE differences.

cigarette smoke is designed to be drawn deeply into the lungs and absorbed fully every hour or so for as long as the host is alive.

Pipe and cigar smoking - is like eating at a smorgasbord. You don't do it every single hour like you do with cigarettes. You get a whole lot all at once, and its not drawn into the lungs. It actually IS pleasurable.

Smoking cigarettes is actually hard to do at first.

Thats fine. I don't mind. Maybe i am rationalizing about not smoking. But I really no longer think that smoking is enjoyable. I don't see a reason, other than addiction, to do so.

Im confused, you want an e cig just to smoke indoors? Don't you have a house? Just smoke inside, your paying the money for rent, its your decision what you do on your own property, who gives a fuck if it smells/other people complain, its your house/apartment if they dont like it they can leave.

I pay the rent for my apt therefore i smoke in it. The landlord told me not to i told him i can do what i want, i pay the bills therefore i can choose what to do on my own property.

Do you pay the bills? If so you make the rules, if they don't like it they can leave. My girlfriend hates cigs, hates the smell but yet she still comes over, she got over it and so will the people you hang out with.

Sorry. The people I hang out with are too young to smoke.

I smoked pretty heavily for about 25 years. Now I have a cigarette every so often, maybe every few days or so. My primary nicotine sources are snus and nasal snuff. I am addicted, but so be it; I'm addicted to coffee too. Snus and nasal snuff are about as harmful as other minor vices(coffee, tea, light drinking...), so I don't care. Life's here to enjoy. If I weren't addicted at all I'd still use tobacco, but perhaps not quite as much as I do now.

Really? I don't want to tell you what to do, but... really? Can you? Are you sure your not deluding yourself? That was exactly how I felt too. Then one day I realized that I no longer had a choice. I wasn't sure when exactly it happened. Then 18 more years went by. (sounds like a jimmy buffet record)

Boy do I hate the smell now. I really really do. Its terrible. I don't remember it ever being so awful but I can tell immediately - and am offended, actually goddamn offended by someone near me having smoked a little while ago.

Well, i haven't smoked pot since monday, i have a couple zips to my name and its just sitting there, therefore i am not addicted, if i was addicted i would need it to feel normal, i dont need it to feel normal, I do it because i want to. Same with cigs, if i run out i dont feel the need to run to the store and go buy a pack, i'll wait till the next time im out to buy a pack, I can go days without weed/cigs, i choose not to. I enjoy it therefore i partake in it.

You hang out with children? Becuase you want to or there your children? If your hanging out with children because you want to, well thats just weird, if there your children then get your lazy ass up and go on the porch for a cig.

Good for you. You are the exception. Most people I know would never run out.
