I plan to put together my new machine tommorow its a AMD 1.4 iWill kk266+ MOBO and 350watt PSU... ive read some articles aswell anyone care to share a tip so i dont screw this up 😀

Make sure everything is plugged in before you first boot (mainly CPU FAN)

Also make sure the cpu and heatsink/fan is properly placed.

Dont use the PCI slot right under the AGP slot if it is not nessary

Other than that, good luck and have fun.

Along the lines of making sure everything is plugged in, just simply double-check ALL your connections, make sure all the cards are seated, and for the love of pete, make sure you're grounded when you touch the cards and such. 🙂 If you need help, don't be afraid to ask someone, forums, in person, phone, whatever, no one will think poorly of you (we all have to ask once in awhile, even if just to get a second opinion).

Just be sure to take your time and read the manual for your motherboard. It'll have information on jumpers that need to be properly set and tweaking your bios. Also, when installing your heatsink, take your time!!! Don't force anything otherwise you might crack the core or at least chip a corner, be very careful when installing your heatsink. Otherwise just the standard precautions, be sure to ground yourself, make sure you don't plug in the floppy power cable upside down, unless you like smoking floppys 😉 make sure everything's secured and fastened properly. Good luck on building your first computer.

for the love of god, make sure your HS/FAN is in place before powering up - AMD procs will burn up in < 3 seconds

yeah install the heatsink outside of the case so you can look at it from the side to make sure its properly seated.

also make damn sure all cables are connected properly and ram and pci/agp cards are all the way in

yeah come on here if you have problems. oh and remember that there are 1-800 numbers for tech support so use those if you need them.

be sure to use your anti-static wrist strap and for extra precaution i recommend sum anti-static mesh pants, big rubber boots and a mat.....😛

Read the Mobo manual even before you break it out of the static bag. Better yet read all the manuals that came with your hardware. Familiarize yourself with the mobo jumpers and switches. If you have any question regarding your mobo or othe hardware ask them even before you try to do your setup. If there are any terms you do not understand to start with, don't set up yet. Ask.
