Anyone got Car insurance thru USAA?

I'm a veteran. A lady Captain in the Army overheard me talking about my service, then asked me what kind of insurance I had. Apparently, I'm an idiot, having gone thru all these years, not understanding what USAA does, or that I was eligible to join.

Are the rates that much cheaper?

I have them and they are very good. Had to file serveral claims with them and they were always very helpful. The process was almost painless. I insure both my house and car with them.

They are good - used them when active duty.

Unsure if they will take lowly ex-marines though.🙁

they may have standards😛

I have them for all my insurance/banking services. Didn't really shop around auto insurance rates much though so I can't say. But, they're customer service is great. They were ranked #1 for customer service by Money magazine I think it was.

I have heard of a couple of locations where USAA was not the cheapest auto insurance, but it has always been the cheapest where we were (21 years service put us in a lot of places.)

Just like yinan's experience their claims service has always been swift and easy for me.

Check out their web site as they offer so much more than insurance and their products are top notch.

They weren't the cheapest for me, but good luck! I use all of their banking services and am quite happy with them.

I had used them for banking for several years and I just set up auto insurance and rental insurance through them and I have been very pleased. The rates seem to be extremely reasonable and if I ever have a question there is always a way to get ahold of them and actually talk to a person.
They seem to be pretty innovative in their offerings for banking as you can use ATMs and they will cover the fees as well as their new deposit at home system where you can deposit checks via a scanner from your own home. Pretty amazing I'd have to say.

sure, they'll take you. they even take relatives of those who have been/are in the military iirc. you know, if your dad was in the military, the kids are eligible.

i do all my banking with USAA with the exception of my home loan being with chase (went with builders mortgage for a 'discount') but i'm looking to transfer that to USAA maybe. i'm happy with their service they're very helpful and have an intuitive web site.

Another happy USAA member here. Banking, car insurance, life insurance, homeowners insurance, and investments! Love that SSA check every year! 😉

USAA member here for 20+ years, and very satisfied with both their rates and their service on claims. You should check with them soon - there is a limit on eligibility based on how long you have been off active duty.

Nobody's answering the question: No, they're not that much cheaper, if they are even cheaper at all.

They are, however, competitive, and what sets them apart is their customer service...THAT is why USAA and Amica are the two highest rated companies.

<---another USAA customer, been with them ever since they opened up to enlisted some years ago. They used to be strictly "professional", meaning officers, doctors, etc etc.

They are great on customer service, and are HQ'd here in San Antonio....

I have USAA for one car loan, house mortgage, car insurance, and house insurance. The car insurance and house insurance are combined in the monthly bill. That's the GTO, Corvette, Camaro Z28, Monte Carlo SS and house for about $210 a month.

Yes, USAA is the best!

I have home, auto, motorcycle, and life insurance through USAA. Excellent coverage and lowest rates. Great service too.

I use them for all my banking and insurance and many of my investments. They're awesome. I actually had to file a big claim after only about a year with them - my '99 Acura Integra GS-R sedan was stolen and stripped. The car was a year old, with 13K miles, and they gave me $200 less than I paid for it, brand new! They also gave me a rental car for two weeks even though I didn't have car rental coverage on my policy.

I just joined yesterday from seeing a thread about it on here, the auto quote I got was the lowest iv seen by far. Just a quote though...
