Anyone got an ElanVital case?

I am looking for a new case to house my soon-to-be purchaced Socket-A T-Bird, and I came across the ElanVital site and their cases. I was wondering if anyone has one of these and if they recommend it over the other mid-tower cases. I am looking at the T-10 or the T-5 form Elan Vital. Also how does the In-Win S500 compare to these or any of the other cases you guys love around here. Not going to overclock too much maybe a little bit.

I have both the T-5 and the T-10. This is an excellent case, except for the turn and push buttons which bothers alot of people but there's way to get around it. I would definitely go for the T-10 if I were you.

ANy other takers? I haven't seen the case in person, so I don't know what youa re talking about with the turn and push button. I assume it's for the power on on the front, but could you explain more? Also, what was your price if you don't mind me asking and where did you get it? Thanks for the info.

I've had the T-10 for about a year now and love it! Some sites list it as a full tower but is more of a mid tower size, fairly good for overclocking since it has an open design interior with room for 2 additional case fans. Back when I was building systems around this case they were shipping with decent SPI power supplies. Egghead has the T10 for around $79 + $7 shipping.

I have had the T-10 for more than a year, and while it's well constructed and laid-out, the front bezel is ugly. If the lowest you can find is $79, I'd suggest going for the Fong Kai 603. It was recently reviewed by Anand and Ars, and both sites loved it--quiet and cool. The only place I know that sells it online is http://www.directron.com, but supposedly it's also sold at Best Buy. Good looking case, should be well-built, as it was used by HP for their old cases.

I was lookign at the Fong Kai cases for a while, but my ex-roomie had an HP in a case that looked a nit to similar to Fong Kai's. I hated that computer cuz it sucked major @ss. I will not buy the Fong kai for this reason. I cannot stand to have my computer in a case that housed that piece of cr@p HP. Sorry about my rudeness, but ti really did suck. I know this irrational, but I don't care. Someone said it is skinny? Well, I like my cases kinda squat, don't want to go for the skinny look. Any other quiet cases out there? Any info on that In-Win? Thanks for your help guys!

I have a T-10 and like it. It is skinny, but I prefer that. I cut 2 blowholes into the side of it last weekend. Lots of room inside. One thing is that it has only 1 exposed 3.5 inch bay.

I've used the inwin s500 and its a good all around case
80mm front intake, 80mm rear exhaust. Similar in many ways to the Enlight 7237, minus 1 5.25 bay. Uses drive rails and is roomy like the enlight but the overall construction feels more solid than the enlight series. Also the side panel is a bit thicker than your average case. Only problem is the 235 Powerman ps that comes standard with it, athlons will require an upgrade

Yeah that case looks pretty good, but I don't like drive rails. That's just my opinion. Can I get the Inwin without a PS so I could put my own in? Any other info out there? Is the Inwin quiet? Any prices out there on the Inwin? Just looking for some more info to base my judgements on. We'll see how all this pans out...

I have the ElanVital T-10 and the InWin S500 currently. Its a toss up between the two.

I think the ElanVital is good for Slot 1 motherboards because it is narrow. When I had a Socket370 board in it the heatsink and fan was almost touching the upper exhaust fan. I had to remove the exhaust fan to remove/install the heatsink/fan. I now use the ElanVital with a slot1 motherboard and everything is accessible.

The socket370 board is in the InWin S500 and because the case is fatter the exhaust fan is farther (higher) away from the motherboard allowing better access to the heatsink and fan. My InWin S500 is using a 300W PS. I don't mind the rails.

Note that my Socket370 board is the Asus CUBX which has its socket quite close the back of the board. Your board may note have this problem and the ElanVital T-10 could suit your needs. I now have 2 Sunon 80mm fans in the case and it maintains a temp of 24C (2 degrees above room temp) with a CPU temp of 45C. I have no temp info on the InWin.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,

The phattest mid-tower I've seen recently was on the HP 1GHz machine reviewed in MaximumPC--perfect. If someone has that issue (6/00, p. 57) and a scanner, I'm sure a lot of ppl would appreciate those pics.
