1/4 ? how high can you go on the FSB while keeping the PCI/AGP at 33/66 ?

Thanks

with a 1/4th divider the pci/agp are in spec at 133mhz fsb (its really simple math, 1/4th of 133mhz fsb = 33mhz pci.... and 1/5th of 166mhz fsb = 33mhz pci... so a 1/6th divider will let you run 200mhz fsb and keep the pci/agp in spec)

and i double checked, the sis735 chipset doesnt support registered memory (which is the chipset used in the esc k7s5a)
to be honest im far from an expert on registered dimms, maybe its possible for a board to post with registered dimms even if its not supported

but even if your k7s5a will boot with registered dimms its not actually supporting any of the features that registered dimms brings

have you run memtest86 or some other memory diagnostic on the k7s5a that you have reg dimms in? im curious if it produces any memory errors

oh I c

about the ram, the ram works 100%, the system will not just post it will work 100% and I did run memtest and its all good, I assume it might drop the reg special features, but thats no big deal really :)
and my main point was that some boards support things they werent supposed to (it will take 1gb modules as well and run aok as long as the modules are lower density)

you should try and find out if anyone with an nforce2 or kt600 motherboard has tried reg dimms
even though its not supported it might work (but again it wont be running as a reg dimm, and none of the reg features will work)

nforce2 will have the agp/pci lock
and kt600 will have all the dividers up to 1/6th (so you can run up to 200mhz fsb and still keep the pci/agp in spec)

personally i use a kt600 based board (hehe and i love it :) ) its super fast and super stable i run my xp2500+ at 12x200mhz or 2.4ghz (stock for xp2500+ is 1.8ghz)
to bad i dont have any reg dimms to try out and see if the would work on a kt600

well I dont mind if they dont run, I mean if the register on the memory module is activated it will go slower, so its actually better if it doesnt :) however the ram itself performs beautifully, no problems what so ever

yeah I'll try finding someone, if I can, thanks for the tip man

im guessing its still going to take the perfomance hit and run much slower then unbuffered dimms, plus it wont get any of the advantages :(
and thats assuming the boards will even post with it installed

what who where ?
your trying to scare me ? :)
which advantages you mean ? the reg ones ? those arent much of an advantage if you dont have over 4gb or so (main purpose for a reg is to handle high amounts of ram)

and dont start the "if it will post" :) you scaring me and Im already scared here :)
