Anyone good with SEO/Sales in the web hosting world?

This is somewhat of a rant, as well as a request, LOL.

I am sure you guys are aware I run a company on the side, there's actually 2 of us that co own it. We got really lucky when we found each other locally, merged companies, created the s-corp.

I am sick of these fly by night people/companies I keep getting, and getting no where with. I love to hire smaller people/companies, so I try to seek them out. I have gotten a few on warriors, WHT, DP, etc...they all start off with huge ideas, even with the small budget I give them...1-4 months later, they disappear, and I have very little results. I think I have sunk about $4k into it over the last 2 years...so I am hoping I might get lucky and find someone on AT who is interested.

Anyone want to freelance (work whenever you want/can) doing SEO/blog posts/representing as a sales guy for our company, madgenius.com?

Some of you guys seem to know your shit, maybe even do this as your day job. So if anyone feels they could help, or are interested ... shoot me a PM, let me know what you could do, or think you could do for us.

Having a web hosting/tech background could be useful, we also need someone to fill our knowledgeable up with some useful info, and our 'lab' (blog).

TL;DR :

need reliable sales/seo guy, the internet has failed me, AT save me!

Sounds fun -- I have the tech knowledge but unfortunately, I'm not a salesperson. I'm too honest and trustworthy. 😀

We try to base ourselves on full disclosures...if a client asks how much we make on them, we give try to give them a rough estimate. If they ask how much a box costs, we tell them.

Honesty and trustworthy =

Do you do any Sharepoint hosting?

No, we do mostly unix/linux management. We don't have any sharepoint clients.

Some might run them on our boxes/vps's though.

We mostly lease the space/hardware/power/license/etc, 10% of our clients actually need or want systems management.

If you need any writing work done, let me know. I've been doing writing for companies similar to yours for years online as a freelancer..

Cool. Sounds like an interesting business. I'd like to help out but I'm not a salesperson.

Generally WF/DP is reliable

Insert laughing.gif here.

WF, maybe.

DP, I would never do any kind of business there.

And yes, I am a member of WHT, DP, WF, V7N, vbulletin.org, vbulletin.com,,,, and several other webmaster sites.

I already have too much on my plate. But this would be a good job for someone in college that needs some experience and something with flexible hours.

Im trying to teach myself SEO right now. Not the easiest thing. lol

There are all kinds of little tips and tricks out there.

If you want to learn SEO, spend time on sites like CNN and Time.com. Study those sites and go from there. One of the best tools for SEO is google webmaster tools and google webmaster guidelines.

reliable as in, they can do the bulk of stuff that is automatedish, or outsourced.

When it comes to people who aren't doing 5000 things at once, as their main job, they are not good resources imo.

How 'good' are you do you think? Are you beyond the basics?

There's actually a pretty good set of seo related threads on the misc forums at bodybuilding.com.

I have a bunch of domains I've purchased but I usually end up playing games so no work gets done lol. I recently made a Halloween related site that I made few hundred bucks off of. Took only a few hours. It would have probably made a lot more but I didn't start working on the site until something like the first week of October. I also didn't have any backlinks at all to the site. It was an EMD.

I have 2 sites on the first page of google in a 2 keyword search, and that is out of 107,000,000 results.

If you want someone to look at your sites SEO, I will take a look at no charge.

Are you using any grey hat/black hat techniques to promote your sites or is it all white hat?

That's damn impressive considering how much competition your niche has.

Can you please give some tips on SEO optimizing a site? I am launching what could become a decent sized site (our competitor/partner, w/ a similar site has 5-10 million page views / month). I've done the basics like friendly URL's and creating a sitemap.xml, etc, but not sure what else needs to be done.

Unfortunately I can't show the site yet until it launches (Jan '12), but if you could provide some pointers, or links to what I can read to take it to the next level I would much appreciate it, my ATOT brotato.

Now we're talking. Is that something you do for fun, or actually get paid to do?

PM incoming.

Its something I do for fun.

I have been running one forum since 2006, it gets around 25,000 - 30,000 uniques daily and has 66,000+ members.

I also have a youtube video blog, keep my sites facebook page updated, post articles on my blog, do nature photography,,,, and a few other things.

That's my Problem. I have a lot of Projects up. No time to really advertise them. That's why I need someone!

I don't do SEO/sales, but your hosting has been excellent (and cheap) so I'll keep my eyes peeled for you and look around. 🙂
