Most the time the LCD panel and the inverter come together. U can replace just the inverter but for the chance of it being the latter its not worth once u got it all back together. I have replaced quite a few and it sounds like the lamp to me. If u move the screen back and forth does it make any change to the length of the light staying on?
 
You mean it's a glitchy connector or so? The inverter board seems like an easy part to change. I took it apart and it was right there under the screen, I've repaired tons of laptops before, I used to work at a repair center in the 90s for computers and repaired a few MACs and PCs lately. So you don't think it's the inverter? :-/ I can get that for $3-4 USD on amazon.

I just want to replace the right component, or both. 🙂

Not that the laptop is anything special, today. But the screen is 1920x1200 of awesomeness for a number of things. 🙂

Every now and then if I click fn + F8 the screen lights up for a bit, but it's also not as bright as it should be. Guess that is the blacklight, huh?
