If ed and carol get together you know that it's the end of the series.

every show, once the mail and female leads get together the show ends.

That's not always the case. They can successfully do it, but they need to add a new element to it.

On Friends, Ross and Rachel successfully got together and then broke up and then got together again and the show didn't really suffer from it.

Ed is different because the show is kind of based on Ed and Carol NOT getting together, but if the writers can get creative and add an interesting twist or a new element to the show, then it can certainly survive.

Remington Steele, Who's the Boss are just two examples where the couples getting together ruined the show. there are others, even bad shows such as The Nanny got worse when the two got together.

Friends is the unique one because Friends isn't based on 2 but on 6.

Daphne and Niles got together on Frasier, and I STILL find that show funny and interesting.

i was never a big fan myself, so i can't comment. but frazier is interesting. it's almost like the daphne niles thing happened out of the blue. it wasn't necessary for the show. it was just another story line but it ended up being a big part of the show.

that is a very interesting example.

It has ALWAYS been a big part of the show. Ever since the first episode, Niles has been trying to get Daphne. It's soooo blatant in at least 4 out of every 5 episodes leading up until the point where Daphne finally finds out that Niles loves her.

I also thought that Frasier and Roz sleeping together would ruin things as well, but nope...smooth sailing.

I didn't say there were any shows that weren't ruined because they got together, I'm just saying that they can keep the show together and interesting, but they have to do something really creative.

With Who's the Boss, they had no place else to go with the story, they needed the ratings and the show was on it's last leg anyway. The Nanny was the same situation. With Frasier, it was just getting annoying that they weren't together already. If they draw it out too much, then it's frustrating and anti-climactic. In these situations, the characters also got together after a lot of seasons, Ed has only been on 3.

The people over at Ed are probably not going to get them together yet, but it has to happen eventually. They are just doing this stuff to keep their ratings high after the move to Friday. They may even get them together within the next couple of weeks because they need the ratings.

Like I said before, though, they CAN keep the show going, and can keep it interesting, but they are going to have to be really creative in order to do so. We'll just have to wait and see how they do it.

**SPOILER**

WTF??? If Franke was saying that she could be romantic too, then why did Carol pop up?:Q:Q

Maybe Frankie (sp?) just left the notecards. They did it that way to make the viewer think it would be Frankie in the suit of armor.

Poor Frankie. 🙁

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MMMMMMMMMMMMMYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!

Carol in Armor......... drool.... 😀

Poor Frankie 🙁

I'm sorry, but Carol in armor (and blondes in general) just don't do it for me. Especially after I saw Carol on Last Call with Carson Daly and she looked like a skeleton with clothes on.

Give me Franke anyday

That image of Carol in Armor, .... wow. (anybody tivo/screen cap those scenes?)

Well, assuming he ends up with one of them (and doesn't screw up and lose them both) he'll be in good shape! Frankie's pretty schweet as well! And you gotta love her the quirky cuteness.

They did a good job writing this show and casting. I'm in.

I don't understand why everyone is going on about Carol in her suit of armor. She didn't look all that. Now, the part of the show where it was clear that Frankie was either not wearing a bra or it was super sheer is worth talking about.

I don't think she ever looks "all that." Franke is where it's at

Hope he chooses Carol but we'll see next week
I'm pretty sure he will either choose Carol or else end up by himself. Frankie has only been around for what, 6 episodes or so? He's not going to be with her forever. And she's clearly pissed off and not happy about being a footnote in the whole Ed/Carol history.
Did you guys know David Letterman produces the show? I saw his name in the credits at the end....didn't know that
Yeah, I think his "Worldwide Pants" production company also does Everybody Loves Raymond as well as Kilborn's show.
Maybe his clout can help keep Ed on the air? Here's hoping.
