Anyone gonna jump on the Sprint $49 Tab 3?

Sprint's Galaxy Tab 3 features a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera with video capture, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat, a microSD slot, a 1.2GHz dual-core Marvell processor, and a 1,024-by-600 screen. What's new is access to Sprint's 4G LTE network where available and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.

I was about to bite but I played with the Tab 3 10.1 @ Costco (even though it isn't the same clock/ram I believe) and I thought it was a turd. Touchwiz made it unbearable. I hate sluggish performance and the 720p screen just plain sucks.

No. Had the displeasure of using a tab 3 when the secretary came up to me with one because she didn't know how to sign into the buildings wifi. It was a laggy, terrible experience in the 45 seconds I had to use it. It was the 7 inch tab 3. I noticed it but she sure as hell didn't. Hand me a Nexus 7 instead. How Samsung can put out products like the Tab 3 in good conscience is beyond me. The sluggish performance is unexceptable. Samsung has been at this long enough and have the resources to optimize the software but they don't.

Did they use a different CPU for this sku? I thought the Tab 3 7 and 8in models were using 1.2Ghz Exynos parts?

The Tab 3 7" has a 1024x600 screen. Even lower than 720p. 720p at 7in wouldn't be a deal breaker, at the right price.

It appears to be a one off for Sprint, and the CPU listed is actually a 1.7 dual core, not the 1.2 of the WiFi version. Although the screen is ~160 dpi, I ordered one.

Worst case, I'll throw the sim card in my cell enabled iPad mini and sell the thing.

Same with the AT&T version. The WiFi only Tab 3 7.0 uses some Marvell A9 based chip, the carrier LTE models use Snapdragon 400 8930AB for the integrated modem. If you can deal with the screen resolution it's not a bad deal for what you get, though having to be on contract even at $5-10 a month is kind of a downer.

$5/month for 2 years isn't bad, definitely not like a cell phone at 20X the cost/month.
