I am looking into going to an MBA, and I was wondering if there were anyone where you have been through the process, or have hired an MBA Application Consulting firm? If so who did you hire, and how was your experience with them?

Do you have several thousand $ burning a hole in your pocket and/or are you an oversubscribed international applicant (read: Indian)?

Yes? then possibly worth it. No? then don't waste your money.

Focus on crushing your GMAT, recommendations, and personal story (aka application essays). I applied to exclusively top 20 schools this year and got a couple admits and a waitlist without a consultant. Oddly enough, most if not all the consultants give out free advice on their websites (essay analyses, tips, strategies) that I read up on and employed myself. The applications were brutal, sure, but they can be done successfully if you've already got what it takes to knock out the 700+ GMAT, get promoted at work, have the community involvement, etc.

PM for more details if you want.

Edit: There are enough posts to read for months on MBA applications and consultants on gmatclub and its forums btw.
