I recieved a Bank of America class-action settlement last week. I haven't used BoA since 2004.

Check is for $1.24.

Justice served!

Fuck yes...I'm in.

Most of the time, only the lawyers benefit from these things, but 2 weeks ago, I got a check in the mail for a class-action settlement against H&R Block. It was over $300. 😱
I expected it to be about $6.12...

Results are in!

$304.45

Thanks ATOT! I always hated you but now I hate you just a little less.

I never got the point of class action lawsuits. All that trouble for the company, the court system etc so that people can get a cheque in the mail for 0.14 dollars. If the company was truly in the wrong due to a defective product or something that cheque is not going to do anything to help that. The company should simply be ordered to refund defective units on the spot no questions asked.

shhhh, stop making sense said the lawyers.

I hope I registered for this, I definitely remember reading about the registration site for the settlement awhile back and I did purchase an LCD monitor and LCD TV in that time period.

And who's going to order them to do that?

Class-action lawsuits are a fantastic way for people to recoup their losses from a company when a company steals a little bit of money from a lot of people. Obviously, some settlements are ridiculous, but I'd hardly say that all settlements are a piddly amount of money.

I hope you're quoting it for the irony, with people reporting checks in the low hundreds of dollars.

If you're only wronged by a small amount, why would you expect hundreds or thousands of dollars in a settlement? The settlements though should aim to make the consumers whole and shouldn't be something ridiculous like a $10 credit to by a new widget from the company that wronged you in the first place.

missed it.. i wasn't really wrong so it wouldnt have been right to claim this.. but i did buy over 600 lcd for work through my cc and earn the points while doing so.. I could have claim for 600 of these.. lol

I was involved in one last year, all FL homes that have a mortgage require a separate "wind" policy, so my agent let mine lapse without notifying me and Chase insured my house for 6 weeks in Jan-Feb for $1,200. My usual amount for the entire year was around $650, turns out Chase was doing this to a whole lot of people, they had a company called Assurant Inc underwrite the policies and Chase pocketed a nice $600 million profit from this deal, as you can guess Jan-Feb are not "hurricane" season so I doubt they paid a single claim. When I called Chase to confront them about the outrageous prices I got "it's not our job to shop around for the best rates". Anyway I got a check for $34 and Chase was supposed to reimburse me $1000 that I overpaid but they never did. Whatever you do DO NOT get involved with Chase in any way, shape, or form, they are the F-ing devil masquerading as a bank.

OP's link sucks. Here's a better one. https://lcdclass.com/

Never bought a LCD back then. Well, a flat screen from Dell for my computer.

I guess this is about price fixing from LG, Samsung Hitachi and others.

I've only been part of an ebay class action lawsuit.

You're making too much sense! Our court system is the best you know. LOL 😉

The only class action that was worthwhile was the one for diamonds and sadly so many people lied it was still a crappy payout.

These are methods to make law firms extremely wealthy over night (if they weren't already)
