Anyways, looking at all the news articles, or the lack of them, sure makes me wonder about all of these sites. For example the Chicago Tribune is the only credible source I could find that even remotely had and article or two about it. Also the editorial of the protest wanted to make it look like a mob of republicans were protesting and going on a rampage against Obama.

You realize that there's an article about the tea parties on the front page of CNN.com, NYTimes.com, MSNBC.com, CBSnews.com, and Washingtonpost.com as I write this, right? In fact, there was a link to an article about them on every single news site I visited without exception.

Must be that damn 'librul' media trying to hide it in plain sight!

I said Credible sources, you know, like Foxnews and the like. ;)

lol, stopped on the messiahs channel earlier while flipping through and watched KO flip out about the rallies today. the numbers that showed up must have bothered the inner circle for him to be busting a vein instead of his normal run of the mill mocking.

Yeah, some chunkster named Ed opened up his show on MSNBC today with an Op-Ed story that started out about how the reporters at FoxNews manipulate the news to create stories and what a bad thing that is.

He then proceeded to manipulate the news on a story about the tea parties. I about died laughing. You can always tell when you've got them backed into a corner - they start snarling.

What I thought was ?interesting? was the talk of how these protests are somehow inferior because they are comprised of middle class white people, as if that demographic has no business getting upset about anything.

I found this comment on a local newspaper site fairly interesting;

"Americans are sick..."

There may be some, but they are BY FAR in the minority. Most Americans realize that we have been left with few options since the Shrub set us on the road to bankruptcy.

Where was the outcry against Bushes initial TARP payments--you know the ones that found their way into foreign banks and corporate bonuses? There wasn't any, because what this is REALLY about is that a bunch of scared middle-aged white guys, spurred on by FOX News and such stalwart "patriots" as Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh, feel like the country they've grown fat'n'happy on is slipping away from them.

And you know what? It is. It's called progress.

The right makes fervent exclamations about a revolution when they haven't yet realized that the revolution already took place. It's called an election and the American people clearly decided they were sick of the kind of rank paranoia, trumped up nationalism and patriotic posturing that remains the purview of the far right.

The funny thing is when you realize how much people like Sean Hannity, Rush, and Glenn Beck make.....

And then you realize wow, they are whining because their taxes might be raised, not because they give a crap about any of the little people.. and people listen to them.. amazing how dumb people are...

Oh noez, Mr. Limbaugh might get a few million less. How many hundreds of millions of dollars does he have? Why do we care if his taxes get raised. The top tax tier is way too low at the moment. So is the capital gains tax. Even Jefferson was for that because he knew that having low taxes on the rich and on inheritence, etc (the death tax zomg) would make it so that a few rich people would eventually control everything.. which is what has happened since the massive tax cuts have been in place...

Previously there was spending however the perception was that everyone got a "break" to some degree...

What? As wages remained stagnant and the gap between the rich and poor grew insanely large and the middle class started disappearing and health care became impossible to afford for many? Everyone got a break? No. The piddly tax cuts under bush did nothing for the working class. Nothing. They might have equated to an extra trip to Costco for most of the middle class. The rich made out like bandits. Everyone I know got the feeling that they were being completely screwed.

Whereas now you have those that live responsibly feeling like they subsidize those who are living beyond their means...not to mention all of the failed businesses that the taxpayers are covering.

No, more like a damn good portion of the entire country is struggling to just pay their bills and praying they keep their job. They aren't trying to live beyond their means, they are just trying to pay rent. There are people out there trying to get help to live beyond their means but they are a TINY percentage. The vast majority of people right now need help to just pay their bills. A few wealthy people or some far right wingers whine about welfare and people mooching off the system etc but in reality everyone knows it is such a tiny percentage as to be irrelevant. The problem isn't taxes either, it's interest on credit cards and such, they recently jacked everything up so high it's killing the country.

Just watched a few minutes of the Hannity & Joe the Idiot circle jerk on Fox News at a Tea Party Rally. People holding communist signs with Obama's name on them. Somehow Jerimiah Wright and Obama's foreign policy experience were brought up as well, now exactly what does that have to do with the Tea Party?

Oh thats right, people of ALL sides are protesting and this has nothing to do with Obama hate.

Went to the tea party in Mobile, AL, over 2,000 people there. contrary to the msm folks, there were black people who went to these events even in the *gasp* south. And we didn't yell obscenities or incite violence like the extreme lefties. Revolution is brewing...

hmm i did not see that. But I think you fail to realize that it is actually Hate of waste. And Obama has been the king of waste.

What I really don't like is Hannity or Joe oppertunist even being there I think it taints the event.

I went to the Lexington Ky teaparty and it wasn't anything like that. It was people of every walk of life expressing their feelings of distrust with government. I even saw Ditch Mitch signs surprising but the leader of the US Senate is a big problem and we here keep sending him back. Although the democrat that usually faces him is a turd as well.

I went to the one in Montpelier VT, about 400 people, there was a "counter protest" at the federal building 2 doors down, people who want to pay more taxes, there was 4 of them, and they did a story on CBS here, and gave each group equal billing in the same story, very weak. Very peaceful, about 6 speakers, had a food drive for the food shelf, funny thing is while this was going on, legislature was voting to raise taxes by $29M.

The protestors don't uniformly know what they're protesting. There absolutely isn't going to be a 'revolution' until a majority can figure that out.

Attempting to paint this is as some sort of "GOP" thing is silly.

Reports on various Tea Party sites, via Michele Malkin's blog:

Something hugely significant just happened here at the Sacramento Tea Party. Organizer Mark Meckler singled out GOP opportunists who wouldn?t give him the time of day weeks ago ? and then wanted to hitch their wagons to the Tea Party bandwagon at the last minute.

Meckler said he heard that California GOP chair Ron Nehring was in the audience. Meckler invited him to say hi to the crowd ? and then ripped him for waffling on the massive tax hike ballot measures (particularly Prop1A - $16 billion tax hikes).

Massive boos from the crowd of thousands here against the Calif. GOP establishment.

...

Michael Steele was denied permission to speak in Chicago, because the organizers didn?t want the GOP to hijack the event.
...

Jonathan Hoenig, the Capitalist Pig, also gave the GOP a smack down at the Chicago protest pointing out Bush?s abandonment of the free market system.

...

Local radio station here (owned by the NBC television station affiliate) in Grand Rapids, MI, said about 4,000 were in Lansing. Earlier this morning, 1,000 were in tiny Hudsonville, a suburb of Grand Rapids. Later tonite, they are expecting a really large crowd by the Ford Museum downtown. So the local stations are keeping up (radio). Fox news is doing shots of the various areas, Cavuto has been interviewed in Sacramento. In Sacramento, they are not letting ANY politicians speak, they are sick of all of them. HAHA.

...

Just got back from the Colorado Springs event (I took a long lunch, but have to work!). There was a big crowd, and Rep. Doug Lamborn spoke. He is one of the few that has voted correctly!

...

Gilbert, Arizona noon rally we had over one thousand so I am pleased. Every time someone mocked the porkulus bill the crowd chanted ?yes we can?; not sure just how to take that.

John McCain did not attend-so sad. (little tear here)

...

At Carson City, NV, Rep. Dean Heller got lots of applause - he voted against TARP, etc.

Also strong against illegal immigration and against amnesty, et al.

...

With $16 billion in tax hikes, those who did see it are certainly paying good money. I wonder if it took 30 pieces of silver to get politicians like Arnold and Ron to support the California tax hikes and betray their party.

...

Was Hannity trying to turn the Atlanta Tea Party into a Republican event? Doesn?t he get it either?

And now Greta is going to talk to the chairman of the RNC?

I?m going to bed.

...

NotASlickFan: why are you watching Hannity anyway? He?s a RINO enabler. He still gushes every time McCain, Boehner, McConnell or any other RINO appears as his guest. He is part of the problem. He is blind to what you are complaining about.

If anything I would say this movement is building off of what Ron Paul started. Truly grass roots.

Riiight, sounds very non-partisan.

How hard did you have to twist the facts to arrive at this conclusion?

Very hard. I was at the protest in Sacramento and without a doubt the scene was decidedly partisan leaning towards the GOP. I think people have the right idea in their hearts but clearly GOP anger and frustration boiled over yesterday and the message was more anarchist in nature than anything else. I hate to compare this "Tea Party" thing to a tantrum but yesterdays rally was messy. People still had signs in the air about Obama being a secret Muslim for christ sakes...

So tea parties would have been OK during the Bush years? But now what, they're just not fair? Based on your ideologies, why were you not out protesting during the Bush years?

Your behavior right now differs not in the slightest from the very people you accuse of disruption. The difference being that they are standing up for their rights and you're whining on the Internet. Whining that they might disrupt your version of utopia. If you're not happy with the way things are shaking down, quit acting like a spoiled child, get off the couch and get out there and make a difference.

Why is it borrowing and spending didn't start happening when Obama took office but the protests did. The 'spending is out of control' protesters at these rallies are hypocrites if they're just doing it now.

The 'spending is out of control' protesters should have been even more upset back then....afterall it was THEIR party doing all the spending. It does seem very hypocritical.

Of course a Dem admin and congress is going to advocate spending...DUHHH

Yup.

The GOP has certainly co-opted this.

Newt is speaking in Charlotte today and the GOP House Rep is doing her own special after-t-Party rally.

The part I find so amusing is that those rightwingnuts don't have a clue about the colloquial use of the term, but they're the kind guys who would enjoy teabagging.

  1. tea-bag

Dipping your testicles into the open mouth of another person. Kind of like dipping a tea bag in and out of a cup of water.

I would definitely support this if it wasn't handed over to a bunch of hypocrites to run.

So I do support the theme and the idea very much but I don't want anyone to mistake my support for a restrained, smaller federal govt. as support for the GOP and all of their social policies.

Some people I know tried to get me to join our local one. While I agree with the cause, I did not want to risk getting arrested at a protest. It might hurt with the clearance process that I am going through to get my new job. Coincidentally, I have not heard from the guy that tried to get me to go since it started.

Can't you guys get together, put your minds to work and come up with something better than this hypocrite spiel? Wow, hypocrite, that's got people re-thinking their stance. It's sad and pathetic.

You can blindly follow whatever person, movement, or party if that's what you want. But IMO, to blindly follow the government, under the assumption that they always know what's best to do and are always looking out for your best interests, is beyond naiveté. Our system of government was not designed to have one group or faction in complete and total control. People are exercising their rights. Whether you or anyone else disagrees with what they're saying is immaterial.

Obama did not get 100% of the popular vote. This means that a great percentage of voters are probably not going to agree with everything he does. It's going to be a long 4 years for you unless you can get your head wrapped around that.

Edit: If you can comprehend this chart, you'll know why tea parties were held. Somebody has to pay back this borrowed money. It's not going to fall out of the sky. Taxpaying citizens will be on the hook for all of it.
