When I was like 10, I gave up being a catholic for lent....sorta stuck with it.

i have found that giving up something doesnt work, instead, i try to do something MORE than i normally do, voulenteer, donate abit more, etc
Just an FYI, i am not really a practicing Catholic, but i still make myself aware of this time of year.

I'm not Catholic, so I've never observed Lent. What is the purpose in giving something up?
