Anyone getting Race Pro?

Kabob

I'm torn about whether or not to get this. On one side it's a very realistic sim racer, on the other...well...it's a very realistic sim racer. I'm infatuated with Forza and always looking for more high speed fun, but can't decide if this is where I should go.

*Edit*

Game is out...and only $40! I didn't realize it'd be cheap!

*Edit x2*
$36.99 shipped at Amazon.

As long as it doesn't get 3's or 4's from reviews, I will most likely. Just picked up GRID and Midnight Club for fun, but if RacePro is as good as those ones on PC, I'll definately be getting it. Plus that's all that's out this month.

I've read a few previews and the general complaint with the game seems to be "it isn't GT5!" or so it seems...

Metacritic score is currently at 68. The complaints seem to range from the graphics not being of the highest quality, being rough around the edges, and being to sim-y.

I like the idea of this game and will give it a hard look, though I kinda want a wheel if I'm going to go towards a racing sim.

"Its monk-like devotion to pure racing simulation is remarkable...and kind of a turn-off for the rest of us. [Feb 2009, p.80] "

rofl.

3 80's, a 60, and a 45...course, OXM probaly compares it to Forza...I dunno. Granted, the PC version of this game are awesome, I myself wasn't sure how it'd port.

Checked a few quick reports, one thing people say works really well are the steering wheel controls, unlike Forza they're much smoother than the controller and the brakes actually behave better.

Not unless it is better than Forza and our Wed races switch from Forza to this. Otherwise I will wait for the Forza 3

I was planning on just waiting for Forza 3 but if it gets good user reviews I might check it out.

I am going to pick it up. I need something to tide me over until Forza 3. I got bored with Forza 2 long ago and GRID was just to simple in nature, but fun none the less. Hopefully it won't suck.

I thought about getting this after I returned the copies of LOTR: Conquest, Banjo Kazooie, and End War that I bought from Meijer's B2G1 sale.

It's MUCH more realistic than Forza/GT5. It's a straight up sim racer, the casual gamer probably won't like it. It's taking a beating from stupid people who compare it to GT5, it's not meant to be a GT5/Forza style game. Stuff like "oh the steering is jerky" (try watching an in-car view of a real race car, the steering isn't terribly smooth) make me chuckle.

I'm tempted to wait on it simply because I think about 2 weeks after release there's going to be a flood of copies on Ebay from people who found it was too tough for 'em.

I'll probably try the demo, but more than likly unless it just really grabs me I'll be waiting for Forza 3.

You'll be waiting till at least December, probably early 2010 for that.

Honestly I can wait, still having fun with Forza 2 thanks to the racing group here. Really the race group here is what's got me looking to buy Forza 3 instead of renting it when it does come out as I figure we'll be moving to it at some point.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying Forza 2 now more than ever, but we're still looking at 10 more months of waiting, that's a long time (for me at least) with a game I've been playing non-stop for over a year already.

So, did anybody pick this up? I'm tempted for $40. I'm just afraid it won't be as fun without a wheel, since it's supposed to be a true sim racer (close to true-to-life driving mechanics and such).

Several people on the ForzaCentral forums got it and love it, most are die hard racers though. Many of 'em use the controller and say it works very well.
