No, I went the index fund route for some long term investments. I stay away from individual companies, it's tempting when you buy some of the BS hype, but it's a lot of risk to put on one pony.

I don't get sick because my strategy pushes out 35 years. I moved into a well diversified plan this year. My goal is to move right along with the market.

If its money in retirement accounts, I don't worry about the day2day. I can't even touch that money for 30+ more years!

If its money in non-retirement accounts, well I put that money in bond funds so the risk is significantly lower.

I took it a step further....I not only went in 'whole hog' (as they say), I was so sure that I had a winner that I went in margin too. I had no choice but to sell (as account went negative). I owed more money (after sale) than the account had in it (about $10 - but Schwab waived that). On top of that, found out that CEO and other executives were cooking the books in the background (got $800 back in class action lawsuit a few years later).

Yes, I learned a hard lesson during that time...one that I NEVER forget.....and one that I am forever grateful that my wife forgave....

What stock did you lose on if you don't mind me asking.

No, they actually calm me down. Whenever I play poker, be it cash game or $100-$500 buy-in tournaments, i'd get really nervous, I guess that’s the normal adrenaline rush. Anyway, then I’d tell myself that I’ve lost a lot more money in one day than that in the stock market, so the $100-$500 is like pocket change compared to my stock market losses. that would usually calm me down and bring myself back to normal.

Not any more than I would get physically sick from losing money in a casino. I'd never go into either with enough money to make me physically sick if I lost it.
