Anyone get busted for using the hotspot on a rooted phone?

You know the trick of disabling the tethering manager with Titanium Backup (freezing it) and running the mobile hotspot?

I've been doing it intermittently for the past two weeks in the VA/MD areas with LTE coverage. I've hit speeds as high as 53Mbps down!

I guess as long as you don't do silly things like stream you won't chew through bandwidth and get the warning. I'm grandfathered in on unlimited which is nice.

Using a skyrocket here with a powerskin case. The battery life on LTE drops like the gas gauge on my boyfriend's V10 supercharged truck hehe!

Technically, you are unlimited, but ATT throttles you to EDGE speeds after 2GB. No overages though. Doesn't matter if grandfathered or not. Just an fyi.

Never been throttled before and hit 23GB but that was a few years ago when everyone was unlimited. I used Pandora all the time (again before it sucked with ads and limits!).

Typically my use is between 4-6GB/month and never have I seen a slowdown or notice of too much use. (crosses fingers)

As your usage is 4-6 Gb, that's why you are not yet served notice.
Enjoy your time of unlimited net.

Are you sure about this? What would be the difference between this and the 2GB plan then? Do they charge you for overageon the 2gb plan instead of throttling?

I use 6gb a month on AT&T. I got a notice that I would be throttled in the future but this was just a warning this time. WTF? Is 6gb that excessive?

I am not under contract any longer. If they screw around I'm dropping service and going with a prepaid. I refuse to get a new phone again.

Good luck with decent 3G speeds and coverage on prepaid.

I get excellent 3G speeds and coverage on prepaid. :colbert:

This. I get 1-5 Mbps on straight talk with my iPhone 4, depending on time and location.

Agree though, other prepaid carriers throttle you (ATT prepaid carriers). T-mobile prepaid carriers don't seem to throttle depending on what plan you get.
