thinking of getting one tomorrow at CompUSA. kinda expensive, but i am so sick of this POS Casio PocketPC.:|

how much did you pay?
any quirks about it you don't like?
how the Remote Control?
battery life?

 
400mhz in a damn pocket PC!!!


my mom's computer is only 500mhz!

jesus.. what is the world coming too.. why on earth do you need that much processing power to keep track of your calender and adress book?

Safety reasons.. handles better and is more responsive.. better for avoiding accidents. 🙂

oh, which casio do you have? I have the e-115... its not bad, does everything i could ever want it too.

I have the e-100. works fine for me. I paid $250 for it ( price matched to CC from BB and got it for $200 less beacuse of MSN rebate that CC did not specify in their add. Learned it was an MSN rebate after the fact, )

i got the EM-500 i think? anyway, it's a POS. trying to install a Remote Control application, and it won't even install because the device is not supported. i want the 400MHz model because my co-worker has the 206Mhz model, and i gotta out do him...lol 🙂
 
Don't bother, the 400MHz X-Scale isn't any faster than the 206MHz StrongARM and in a good number of benchmarks it's actually slower.

It's actually a big fiasco between Intel and Microsoft right now over X-Scale. Do some research on before you go blowing your money:

You'd be better off with a 3800 series for MUCH less money, but you wouldn't have the new 3900's awesome transreflective screen.

I thought I read on Brighthand, that HP was going to come out w/ a slim PPC to rival the Toshiba e310. Any word on that?

You can do that with a NR70V Clie and you get a camera and a keyboard, too. 😀

Yeah, I heard that too...no more word on it though.
 
NFS4, i saw the review and they did say they were disappointed with the performance of the XScale CPU. However, since this is a new CPU, most applications are not optimized for it yet. So basically, by purchasing the iPaq with the XScale chip, i'll be prepared for the future (hopefully).

and you forgot that this iPaq has a consumer level IR and computer irDA ports. so i can take 10 of my remotes, and combine them into one on the iPaq device.
 
LordMaul, those Clie's are really nice. my ex-boss had one, and that thing rocked. unfortunately Palm OS does not really accomodate my needs completely, that's why i'm trying to get an iPaq with PPC 2002 (my old device has CE 2.0 with a MIPS processor).

Extended battery life.

Check out the battery life of iPAQ 36xx series in NFS4's link. That benchmark is very close to the battery life I am getting with constant MP3/movie playback.

I'm considering a Toshiba e740 with an extended battery. That should give me 10~12 hours of battery life.
