Anyone get a Refund for Vista from an OEM?

I remember reading that you can get a refund if you did not want the preinstalled Vista on your system by clicking *I do not agree* with the EULA. Anyone have success getting a refund from their OEM (mainly Dell)?

I've heard of people getting refunds from Dell, but I've also heard of Dell telling people "We can't do that, you'll have to send the tower back and we'll trade it for an XP box."

"Uhh, Hi, Dell? Uhh yeah, I clicked "no" on the accept Vista EULA. Wanna send me a refund?"

I have trouble believing you're going to get a refund without returning the tower.

I've also had a lingering question: what if you purchase software, open it, and disagree with the EULA. I don't know of any stores that allow opened software to be returned.

Vista's EULA

By using the software, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the
software. Instead, return it to the retailer for a refund or credit. If you cannot obtain a refund
there, contact Microsoft or the Microsoft affiliate serving your country for information about Microsoft?s
refund policies. See www.microsoft.com/worldwide. In the United States and Canada, call (800)
MICROSOFT or see www.microsoft.com/info/nareturns.htm.

I have XP Pro already and I don't need Vista Basic

This guy in Germany did it

I wonder if this would work for Emachines also. A friend bought a new system after a mobo failure and hates vista. He wants his old XP Home back.

There was a campaign a few years ago that got small refunds for some people installing Linux on HP machines (I think it was mostly HP machines) but it took a LOT of crap, and the bottom line ended up being "hey, it's part of the computer you bought. You can click no, but then you cannot use the software. It's like the CD Burner, just because you don't want to burn CD's doesn't mean we will refund you the cost of a CD Player."
