i was in muir college

I did an internship with the Navy out on Point Loma a few years ago. Very nice city, and would be a great place to live. However, I don't know how anyone ever buys a house out there...

Jalisco Cafe is my favorite (in SD on the border with IB).

Hasn't the weather turned all "Washington-like" since Friday? The surf was funky too yesterday. 🙁

EDIT: "Nothin' to do in LaJolla?" . . . learn to surf, dude! 😀

mmmmmm carne asada!
Both! And Alejandros, and Alibertos, and Rodrigos, and all the other ones. Carne asada, pollo asada, beef taquitos, mmmmmmmm.

Don't forget Sombreros. The one in Carmel Mountain Ranch is good, the one in Mira Mesa is crap.
El Cotixan rules, as does La Posta (in Hillcrest).

My dad was born in San Diego. My family would always make at least one trip to San Diego during any given year. Aside from going to the usual sites (Sea World, Balboa Park, etc.) we went to a few other events such as the Mirarmar Air Show (think "Top Gun").

I wouldn't mind living there although it means finding work there first (tried UCSD, Qualcomm, other smaller companies w/o much success).

I've only eaten there once, but how is El Indio now?

maybe there should be another AT meet in San Diego? i haven't been to any AT meeting, and would be interested. maybe we could have one towards end of october, just in time for Halloween, so Kei can save us money from going to haunted houses. 😛

I was born and raised in San Diego, now I attend school at UCLA. I find LA to be a more interesting city, though I do miss several places in SD, namely Balboa Park and OB.

what about robertos!?! dont tell me you dont miss that!
If you're talking about the small chain of Mexican restaraunts, then hell yes I miss it. There was one about a mile from my house (Carmel Mtn. location). And then Pokez, of course...Damnit, I want to go home now.

el cotijan or albertos?

mmmmmm carne asada!

El Cotixan is the best! it was the best place to go to in middle of the night, while taking a break from studying. the place would be packed with UCSD students at 3 am. i'm talking about the one on Genesee, near the DMV. carne asada doused with a whole bottle of hot sauce...... mmmmmmmmmmmmm

like Bleuiko said, Revelle. i graduated from Revelle also, and for what you want to major in, it's the only logical choice.

The Sombreros in Carmel Mtn was one of our favorite places to go after school (Mt. Carmel High School). I can't believe I left that off the list. What's that place down by the 15? Mia Ranchero or something? I went there once and it was great. Oh, and Chipotle in La Jolla is pretty good, although it's more of an uppity take on burritos than anything else (and kinda pricey).

Edit: Nico's in OB has the best freaking bean & cheese burritos (not to mention a lot of other really good food for cheap). But I still think Pokez has the best carne asada burritos.

Muir representing. Revelle would be a good choice though cause of all their GE's, but Muir has the fewest GE's I believe, so it's more for undeclared people

In application, I have to select colleges in order of choice. For Biology major, Revelle seems to be the first choice. what other colleges would be after revelle?

um...either warren or marshall...I forget. Perhaps even 6th college, but I don't know what their emphasis is on. Definately not Roosevelt though...they are more liberal arts stuff.

the colleges have nothing to do with the major you want, you can be any major at any college. muir is the best cause i think the dorms are the best and there are the fewest GEs.

muir graduate here
the interior of muir dorms are pretty ugly but the muiron way of life was the best!

they treated us well during finals week. starting at 11:30 pm the burnout center would open and supply us with all the soda we wanted. free snacks galore were supplied (gummi bears, costco mini white chocolate macadamian nut cookies, pretzels, scones and bagels that didn't sell that morning....)

during my first year they had midnight pancake breakfasts once a quarter. pancakes, waffles, eggs made to order and all free!

casino night at top of the quad was a blast

pumpkin drop off of Tioga filled all sorts of goodies. mad rush of people running and grabbing candy. my friend's aunt called us up and told us she saw us on the news. hehe

people seemed friendlier/more relaxed at muir. girls laying out on the grass. jello wrestling on the 8th floor! crazy dorm antics. during a druken stupor, the guys across the hall uprooted an entire palm tree, dragged it into the the dorm, and planted it in front of this guys bedroom door prevent his exit.

GE requirements are cake. so flexible. was able to take classes that i actually wanted to take. i graduated with a double major in biochemistry and psychology. left with around 260 units (average 20 units/quarter). they had to kick me out! 🙂
