merry x'mas everyone. i couldnt find an appropriate regional forum, so i thought i'd try here. sorry if its inappropriate.

if anyone near schaumburg has a socket939 mobo or a64, i'd appreciate it if you could help me troubleshoot my setup. i just installed a zalman, and all hell broke lose -- my msi mobo (d-bracket) says that the cpu's toast. i was hoping someone could help me out by swapping cpus to verify this.

thanks a bunch.

Try talking to MSI's tech support, and your motherboard's vender tech support. If they can't help, try RMAing the board and/or CPU. If that doesn't do the trick then we might be able to.

amd was willing to give me a RMA, but if someone would be willing to help me out, it'd save me 2 weeks of downtime. i can bring my pc over to swap cpu ...

Ahh if it's having any problems at all, I'd probably RMA myself. I'd rather wait two weeks and have a fully-functional CPU (or motherboard) than having a half-functional one.

I'm in the southwest suburbs and I'd be more than willing but all I have around here is Socket A and 478 stuff. I'd just RMA everything to be safe if you can't find someone to test it.
