funny that you brought this up... was looking at this kinda stuff a couple of weeks back and i found that, generally, indian computer part prices are $50 to $100 more expensive per component than in the US. i looked at processor, motherboard, graphics card, memory, and optical drive.

here are some prices quotes i got:

AMD 64 Bit Dual Core - 4200 - Rs. 11, 900/-
AMD 64 Bit Dual Core - 3800 - Rs. 9500

ASUS MotherBoard 939 - A810-VM - Rs. 3900
ASUS MotherBoard 939 - A8N-SLI - Rs. 6900
ASUS MotherBoard 939 - A810 - Rs. 5700

1 GB DDR RAM Hynix - Rs. 4600

7900GT (256 MB) - Rs. 21000
7900GT (512 MB) - Rs. 34500

LG & Samsung - Dual Layer - Rs. 2400

if i lived in india, i wouldnt have mind shipping stuff over.. but i dont..

munisgtm, you are right, for the most part the newer generation doesnt see differences.. but there are a few headcases at times.. i went on a 2 day camping trip with 3 friends (2 of us are indian, the other 2 are pakistani).. we had a lot of fun, but keeping my indian friend under a bit of control was a bit too much .. but then he has other issues.. since he is half muslim to being with.. but he doesnt trust whites.

Anyway so yeah lets hope someone from india on this board can help you.
