Most if not all airlines will try to get you on the next available flight if you miss yours.

yes they will- southwest is like a bus service for the skies.

you can do online checkin with them now midnight the night before so you don't have to wait in line to get that A baording card. i suggest you do a search for taht in ATOT, i saw it here a couple of weeks back.
