Anyone familiar with how to load a SKS rifle?

I picked up a SKS and want to verify something. When the rounds are loaded, the bolt is locked all the way back. When I am finished loading the rounds, nothing is done with the bolt, correct (meaning I push the rounds in and it is ready to fire)?

SKS Carbine or SKS AR?

Carbine you leave the bolt pulled all the way back, jam the rounds in manually (or use a stripper clip), pull back on the bolt to close it, safety off, fire away.

SKS AR is similar to any other AR.

I think it may actually WORK without closing the bolt, but why would you want to? that means you're walking around with the bolt open getting crap in the works.

With or without the grenade launcher? There's another tidbit you may want to know if you have it (other than "for the love of god don't try to use it because it WILL kill you")

with my sks, i pull the bolt back, it locks, i push the rounds in. then i pull the bolt back again to release it. rock and roll.
