supposedly they overnight you a prepaid box, they overnight it back to their warehouse. then overnight it back to you. they say turnaround time is 5-7 days after they receive it.

anyone have first hand experience with them?

edit:
got my laptop back today 11/18 in the AM (EST).

heres a simple timeline:
11/12 called in for RMA
11/13 received prepaid box & called DHL for pickup time
11/14 @4pm, DHL came to pick up box
11/15 (saturday) broken laptop supposedly (some mixup with DHL) delivered to Lenovo Warehouse for repairs
11/18 @10am, received laptop back in original condition with updated bios and working.

I have RMA'd my laptops twice.
The first time was to IBM, and the more recent time (this past July) was to Lenovo, after they purchased IBM's Laptop/PC division.
Both were extremely quick. After calling them to set up a ticket, they indeed sent a pre-paid box and shipping label via Express (I don't remember if it was overnight or not, but I think it was.) After I pack everything in (remember to follow the instructions on the paper they include with the box - most users suggest removing the HD/RAM too) I called for a pickup, and I think it was either overnight or 2-day back to their depot. After that, they get to work fairly quickly and then ship it back again.

Both times I have received my laptop within a week after I sent it out - once within 3 days.

I have heard mixed things about Lenovo's handling of support though. Something about them outsourcing, but if you call after normal business hours you should (or at least I have) get support personnel from Atlanta, Georgia - those guys are always very helpful.

Best of luck!

Very fast. You call them (Day 1), they'll overnight you a box and you call UPS and get it shipped the same day (Day 2), it'll get to them the day after you ship it (Day 3), and they'll fix it within a day and return it overnight (Day 4). That was my experience, anyway.

How was the condition of your original laptop when it was returned? Was it the same, worse? Screen hinges loose? Weird keyboard? Dirty?
I got my box today and will sched to have it shipped out tomorrow. Will report back with my experience.

The condition of my laptop when returned was....fixed.
Lol, unless the part requires replacing, they will for the most part not touch it. I sent in a laptop with a small hairline scratch on the lid, and when I received it, it was the same lid, with the same somewhat-worn keyboard, etc. One other time, the screen hinge was indeed slightly loose, but a screwdriver took care of that pretty easily. They even left the same palmrest on it - and this piece is almost always a prerequisite to getting at everything else inside the laptop. YMMV though, I can't say this experience is how it always will be.

The only thing people advise is to take out your hard drive prior to shipping, unless it's part of the problem, just to rule out any "accidental" factory formatting.

And last time I used it, they were using DHL (for me at least) but with the recent turn of events I don't think they're an option anymore.

yea the pre-paid box came in a DHL box. they only left it outside my house though. those morons didn't even ring the bell

That's unsettling.. I hope they don't do that on the return trip, although I have heard some horror stories about that happening. Just make sure to check often when it's about due to return lol. I personally have had nothing but good experiences though, but I could be the exception.
